actually.... i believe babies born underwater do swim naturally... and infants can also swim for a little bit-- survival instinct but they lose it as they grow a bit older. (learned this in developmental psych)

Can chewing gum slow down your appetite?
-
I don't think they really swim. I believe they instictually turn face up and float in the water. There's no way a baby can keep it's head above water to breathe.
-
they make "swimming" motions and a frog kick... its an instinct...
-
Go throw a newborn in a pool and see what happens...it won't be pretty. They can't swim. Anyone can make motions like that, that doesn't mean they're swimming.

Ulceration occurs when the stomach's or duodenum's mucosal lining cannot withstand the corrosive action of gastric juice, which your stomach's lining secretes to break down your meals. Gastric juice, which consists of hydrochloric acid and an enzyme, pepsin, which breaks down protein, can digest any living tissue, including your stomach and duodenum. Normally, both your stomach and duodenum are bathed constantly in gastric acid. But protective mechanisms, including the work of prostaglandins, which govern secretion of mucus from your stomach lining, and your food and saliva's ability to dilute acid, prevent your stomach from digesting itself. Half of the people with duodenal ulcers do secrete abnormal amounts of acid.Chewing gum when you have an empty stomach can cause this increased abnormal amount of acid.nicotine chewing gum can cause ulcers even faster and aspririn gum can cause mouth ulcers.
-
your scientific explanation just doesn't cut it for me there buddy...however I will take your word on the aspirin and nicotine gum causing ulcers...
-
oh and FYI-- ulcers are caused by a bacteria-- H. pylori.
-
Yes, close to half of Ulcers are caused by the bacteria you speak of, but the other half is caused by abnormal production of digestive acids. You would have to chew gum on an empty stomach, many many times, over consecutive years.
