You moved out of your parents house (willingly).

How old were you when..
-
Going to be around 18.7 or so, which is when I'll be going to College.

20, when I moved in with my girl friend

I was 18, but I moved from moms to the summer house out at the ranch and granny and grandpa were not more than about a hundred yards away, so I don't know how much that counts. Not much I don't think.

Just turned 19, moved in my with my boyfriend at the time.

How were you guys financially stable enough?
-
I had a job! hehehe

LOL... I'm going to be the odd man out.. and waaaay out..
I was 32 when I/we moved out..
I stayed at home though college. We had an active chicken (egg) ranch at the time and I helped/worked with my parents when I was not in school. After college I went to Europe for 1/2 yr and it took a while to land a job after I came back. Within a year, I was married and had a pregnant wife. My job's pay was really weak and my wife didn't drive or speak English so it made sense to stay at home.. We started looking for a place after a couple of years, but my dad offered some land and helped finance building a house.. so that kept us there even longer.. After all was said and done we had a 2nd child and I was 31/32. Ugh... but it all worked out OK.

My g/f and I both had jobs and the place we moved into wasn't expensive. It was the main floor of a tri-plexed house, close to down town.

lol Bob... were you just concurring with my story?

18 till... 21, whilst I was studying Engineering. Moved back home and am still here at 23, and they're not getting rid of me anytime soon. Honestly, I doubt I'll move out until I have my first house fully paid off, it's so damn cheap living with the folks.

At 20 the parents finally were prepared to pay for me to get out of home for a couple of months. Then I worked for rooms as a resident tutor for some years, then the wife and I rented a shack for six months, then bought it at 28.

Why are you asking? Do you think you are too old to be at home?I wonder how these ages compare when you look at nationality/ethnicity?I think it's quite typical for an "American" to leave early or be sent packing. I wonder how it compares to some European ethnicities who tend to be more (there is a word I'm looking for but I can't think of it now) "family oriented" and stay home longer.

I haven't technically moved out of my mom's house yet. I'm going to college about 45 minutes away from home and I only go back about 2 weekends a month now. My Brother just graduated in May and he's still living at home. My parents don't believe in kicking us out (unless we give them a good reason). We all made a deal years ago that as long as we are in school we can live at home and pay them nothing, but if we chose not to go (or graduate) then we have to start paying rent. Which is about $50 a week.I plan on living at home atleast for a year after I get out of school, that way I can save money and be more financially stable when i'm ready to go.

Actually my response was the exact same as yours so I thought pressing Quote and Post was just easier. But now I see that, after typing out this explanation of my post, it would have been faster and easier to just say it my own way. Ahh well..

I'll be 18 when I move out. 22 when I have my own apartment and 24 when I leave the country. At least that's how I'm planning it.
