I was lifting some weights last night and immediately afterward felt a whole lot more energized also throughout today at work. Maybe it's because I never exercise too much and lead a life of sloth?Despite how stupid this sounds, I am still terrified of hearing those words from a doctor and really am against going. Besides my health insurance will not kick in until March and there's no way in hell I'd go to a free clinic. Waiting 6-10 hrs. in a room full of screaming babies would add to the fear and tension. I figure if I do nothing and I am still around in 5, 10, or 20 years then I must've been fine.

AIDS? Extremely Scared
-
Does the fact I have been touching, squeezing, and attempting to burst the lymph node on my neck mean anything? How do you make them go down?
-
You're starting to remind me of an ostrich. If no one tells you what the problem is, it isn't there. We don't charge a fee here and we're not doctors. You've gotten some good advice here; it's time to take it. I don't know where you live, but in most locales there are hospitals, which would do any testing, that charge on the ability to pay. You should be able to come up with the cost of the office visit to a doctor. Besides, if (s)he tells you you're OK it costs you nothing more. If (s)he wants you to get tests and you choose not to, you're in the same place you are now. Or are you the ostrich?

Sounds like something I will consider. I know you all can only do so much on a forum but I just need to know I probably don't have it.What does a neck lymph that's been swollen for 3 months usually mean and is it related to my groin glands suddenly swelling 2 days ago?
-
To some what ease you mind, and what was said more so above; we only give opinions and we are not doctors! But, most drug stores now sell HIV/AIDS Test Kits that you can purchase which I have seen our our local CVS Pharmacy from $50 to $80... follow the instructions with a blood sample and send it into the lab and call the number after a few days and they will tell you if it is (-) or (+). Also, there are many free clinics that you can go to and they will test for free or check you out for a minimum doctor fee and if you are unable to pay, that may be free also. Good Luck!

Quote: What does a neck lymph that's been swollen for 3 months usually mean and is it related to my groin glands suddenly swelling 2 days ago? It means that you have an infection--something that may require medical intervention. To me the fact that I'm noticing additional swelling would tell me that things are getting any better and may be getting worse. I'd schedule an appointment today. Keep us advised.

I dunno, the groin lymph nodes seem to be going down yet still quite swollen. Also where my adams apple is at is now swollen, if I push down on the lump it makes a "clicking" sound.I'm just resigned to my death now, I am convinced I am dying on AIDS at this point and if that's the case it won't be the AIDS that kills me.I have been taking Aleve for the glands which may be helping, I dunno. Also for the past 6 weeks I have been popping Zinc, Selenium, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin B, Lysine Supplement, and Multivitamins compulsively by the handful every couple of hours trying to fight the swollen gland on my neck. I take 5 pills of each at a time every 5 or 6 hrs (probably 100+ pills a day total). I've also been eating "Airborne" tablets or drinking them dissolved in water. I also suck on "Cold Eeze" zinc lozenges all the time. These vitamins do nothing.

You keep posting here but have you and are you going to see a doctor?
-
Yes, but the glands appear to be a tiny bit better in my groin. Also, after I have an infection such as a cold sore, my glands where my jaw meets my throat are always swollen for a few weeks, even before I ever had sex.I plan on seeing a doctor but I just want all the input I can get here to feel better. What happens when a person first gets AIDS? Don't they almost always have a fever, chills, night sweating, rash, and weight loss? Also when I get cold sore they are small, not completely covering my face like I see in photos of people with AIDS and herpes. I've had sex only 30 times in my life, maybe 5 of them unprotected, and I've never touched a needle or came in contact with other blood. What condition usually causes only swollen glands in the groin and neck and no other symptoms?
-
Based on web diagnosing myself, I feel like my symptoms are actually a tiny bit closer to Mono than AIDS.My brother had Mono bad about 6 - 12 months ago and he apparently had the swollen lymph nodes and everything. He was generally very sickly. I was overseas then so I know I didn't get it from him, but since he had it, would that maybe mean my body is already more likely to succumb to the virus since we're from the same genetics? How do you get Mono generally? I last made out with a girl in March.
-
I don't mind trying to help those who want help and/or try to do something about their situation. You, I'm afraid, do not seem to be meeting either condition. If you haven't gotten what you want from here, you're probably not going to.Not meaning to be harsh, but we've given you the best advice we can. You really need to see a doctor or nurse practioner. Are you a college student by any chance?
-
I cannot see a doctor, I am not insured as I declined to get coverage when i started my job and now I cannot enroll until March 2009. I do not wish to pay hundreds of dollars and wait forever to get looked at by an unsympathetic doctor who will treat me and look at me like cattle.I just want to know, what are the warning signs of AIDS. Is there a sure time period that it takes to incubate and then show minor symptoms? If I don't have it, then what cause swollen glands and nothing else? Could it be something worse than AIDS like a brain tumor that will kill me in 3 months?I'm a hypochondriac I think but I am worrying non-stop.Can someone convince themselves they have AIDS and show symptoms?I saw a Law & Order episode where a girl wanted to be pregnant so much she actually gained weight, had morning sickness, and lactated even though she wasn't pregnant at all. Is the human mind that powerful?

Does what I have sound like Hypothyroidism at all?
-
Quote:How do you get Mono generally?Well, mononucleosis is a virus that affects, among others, the lymph nodes and salivary glands. It is contagious, you get it through salivary contact with someone that has it. This can mean kissing or simply sharing a toothbrush. Swollen lymph nodes are a symptom. Quote:I just want to know, what are the warning signs of AIDS. Is there a sure time period that it takes to incubate and then show minor symptoms? Most people that contract HIV remain symptom free for the first few years. Certain people go through a period of swollen lymph nodes, within a month of being infected. As your immune system grows weaker things start to deteriorate, you are tired, you have fevers, and other unpleasantries. When AIDS stage is reached, some cancers and infections are common. Quote:Does what I have sound like Hypothyroidism at all?As far as I remember, swollen lymph nodes are not a symptom.

Just to clarify - I am simply answering your questions, not diagnosing. For this you should make some attept to see a doctor, though I understand this is difficult for you at this moment in time.

I'm sorry, that was silly, I wasn't really thinking properly, I was thinking of completely the wrong thing. Swollen lymph nodes are a symptom (of many symptoms) of hypothyroidism. In the ''of many'' are included exhaustion, suicidal thoughts and uncontrollable weight gain. However, this in no way means that you have this condition. We all have some of the symptoms of something but it does not nescessarily mean that we have it. Whether you have it or not, I don't know, for that. Yet again I'm sorry, I should have been thinking more clearly in my first response. Hopefully this helped you in some way, but you need to see a doctor as self-diagnosis on the web isn't always accurate.

So now the groin lymph nodes no longer hurt as much but are still a bit swollen, whatever infection was there seems to be retreating. I did have 2 large boils on my buttocks at the time, I regularly get acne and acne cysts there. Could the nodes be inflamed because of that?I feel more energized today than I have in the past 4-5 days. Now the muscles and veins on my neck just seem to be swollen, a new symptom. For a while I felt like I would die before the election.I am starting to have doubts about it being AIDS and now thinking I have cancer.

If you refuse to see a doctor there's not a lot we can do for you.I suspect your problems with anxiety are more serious and disabling than your physical symptoms.

Bapple, please don't take this the wrong way, as I believe there is a way to help everyone. I know you say you cannot afford to see a doctor, but surely your health comes first?
There must be a free clinic, or some sort of "sliding scale" thing I've heard discussed?
Seriously though, we will help as much as we can here, but all we can offer you is our words, and our words do not equal a blood test, or the professional examination you would get from a doctor.
I personally (as I read a lot, and know the approximate statistics) sorely doubt you have AIDS, by delaying going to the doctors though you only make things worse! Whatever you have, you are no doubt making worse by stressing so much, as you already stated you are a hypochondricc... stop the worrying, get yourself down the clinic!!!
There really is nothing more we can say to help you here Bapple, if you refuse to help yourself. There is only so much we can say and do for you, you're the one that will have to take that step, go to the clinic, whatever you have you are making worse with stress, it's probably something really simple and the symptoms have been blown all out of proportion by your stress levels!!!
My apologies if you find this to be a scathing post, but sometimes we have to be cruel to be kind, and I'm telling you there is only one way to find out what is wrong; it's by going to a clinic!!!!! We will help you as much as we can with our words, but there is only so much help we can offer, and I feel as though that help may well have been exhausted now, because whatever we say until you go to a clinic you will not find a definative answer.
So, on that note... Good luck at the clinic Bapple, let us know how you get on!

Your fine don't worry. Just go to a doctor when you feel like it just for kicks.
