Hey Guys,Looking to take advantage of the holiday deals I was debating between a ps3 and wii. Finally chose the wii because the family was interested in the wii fit!Anyone have The wii? What are the essential "Controllers" to have, and the best games you've played?BestRyan.

Wii fit? In my opinion, it's not really worth it. At this time, it's harder to find than the Wii itself. The Wii Fit is more designed for people who acutally want to stay in shape and stay committed, not for serious gamers. Some of the games can be fun but you may get bored after a few weeks. As for the Wii itself, as proud as I am for being a Nintendo person, there's not very many games for it. The only reason why I got a Wii is for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. That's it. The best games on it would be Super Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil 4, or Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. Some other games that got excellent reviews would be No More Heros, Okami, and Wario Smooth Moves. The thing about games is it depends what kind of gamer you are. Are you more of a casual player or more hardcore? And asking what games to try out is difficult because, depending on who you ask, you'll get different responses. It's all about what YOU are into.As for as "essentials", all you need is the nunchuk and wiimote. You don't need the Zapper, Classic controller, the Perfect Shot, or even the Balance Board. They just make the games more "fun". From personal experience, the Zapper actually makes some games uncomfortable to play. I do hope you know that you need a pair for each person (nunchuk and wiimote) to play. At work, I'm still surprised how many people still don't understand that. So, if you play party games, you need to save a lot of pennies. A pair is not cheap ($60 US dollars before tax). The only thing I'd recommend for the Wii would be a wiimote charging station. So that way, you don't waste your money on batteries. This coming from someone who owns a Wii and works at a video game store.

I can second pretty much everything here entirely.I have a 360 and a Wii. I haven't switched my Wii on in about 4 months. Basically I hate it!It's fine if you are a VERY casual gamer (i.e. I'm bored, lets play some easy game for a couple of hours tonight)If you enjoy gaming, as in you look forward to new games coming out, you like to get really into it and stuff, it's probably not for you.In terms of games, the ones Virtual_Star listed are nearly identical to the ones I would recommend (though I've not played Okami). If you like mindless party fun, I'd also suggest one of the rayman raving rabbids titles, as they are probably the best party games on the Wii at the moment. I've heard good things about Boom Blox also. Mario Kart is over-hyped for what it is, as it is essentially exactly the same as nearly every other iteration of it for the past 10 years.Thing is, if you like to play multiplayer stuff, it's basically your only alternative, as the 360/PS3 barely have any decent 4-player games (and those that do are usually arcade titles that have limited appeal). But then the Wii's 4-player-at-a-time-in-split-screen selection is fairly poor (usually it's take-it-in-turns). Basically if you want multiplayer fun, it's best to get a Wii (or even a gamecube) with a bunch of old gamecube games (mario party, donkey konga, starfox, smash bros, monkeyball, bomberman, soul calibur, mario kart double dash) a bunch of gamecube pads, save some money and have some fun! It's also worth mentioning that some of the cross-platform games that come out are crippled on the Wii compared to the 2 bigger badder alternatives. You can expect significantly worse (think PS2-style) graphics on all titles. Some features will be removed, especially where internet connectivity is concerned. Games such as Guitar Hero/Rock Band are limited in what downloadable content is available, instead being released on separate "track pack" discs.

PS3 is fucking AMAZING. No doubt about it.After playing Wii for at least 5 hours within the last 2 days I cant wait to go to my babes house and play the PS3. Much better. Its cool that u can create ur character. blah blah.. but be careful.. some games require alot of moving.. dont throw ur remote thru ur screen!!

LOL... I still have that thing! I thought I was sooo cool when I bought it... LOL

I'm not completely isolated from the world. I had a 1982 Vectrex. That was my begining and ending foray into the mad world of gaming. However I would like to get a PS3 but figure I would never have time to play with the fucker.

Of course, I'm a computer geek at heart. If you enjoy online gaming; buy a 360.If you want a console that you can fool around on and play the occasion game by yourself; buy a PS3 or 360. If you want a console that is a ton of fun when friends visit (especially for drinking games); buy a wii and 4 controls. It's a simple fact that 360's are cheaper, have more games, have better exclusive games (well, that depends on the player's opinion), and a much bigger online community. PS3's are still nice, but I still feel the 360's are better value, and no one mention the RRoD. That problem has been fixed, and is now irrelevant.
