Question about cold sores
-
Cold sores are a herpes virus, though ususally not the same strain as genital herpes. If the lesions are active, it is possible that you could have tranfered the virus to your girlfriend when you fingered her if your finger can in contact with the virus. She can't, however, get infected from only giving you a blow job if the virus is in your mouth.

are the chances slim tho? cause im worried for her...

It's very hard to judge the chances.Concerning the two strains, usually cold sores are the type 1 strain and genital herpes is the type 2 strain. Each strain can colonise the other area, but it's less virulent there - outbreaks are rarer and less severe. With genital herpes so common and oral sex so popular now, though, an increasing number of cold sores are now the type 2, genital, strain - perhaps as many as 30%.If you have either strain, it will be localised to one area, and only that area will be infectious, and then usually only during a breakout or just before (though sometimes it can happen without any breakout). At these times you are very infectious there (but nowhere else); at other times the infectivity is low. Your body can never completely get rid of the virus, but it does produce antibodies that prevent that strain of the virus from settling anywhere else, so it won't transfer from your mouth to your genitals or vice versa. However you can still get infected with the other strain.

I think it's possible. What the chances are, I don't know.

well is this something i shouldnt be stressing myself over?? because everything says cold sores can cause genital herpes if u commit oral sexo n the person, but i didnt, so there was no, wound to skin touching, it was just i licked my fingers....nothing more. i just dont want to ruin somebody's life, if that happened i would just want to die basically

UPDATE:lol, itsn ot even a cold sore. its called Angular cheilosis, its a chapped deept cut on the side of your lip. totally fine. thanks for answering all my questions tho guys lol
-
You can't change the past, so stressing over it does no good. If nothing has happened to her after 10 days, she should be clear.

thanks for all the help man, this site rocks, ill be coming back here, great site. im extremely relieved to find out i dont have a cold sore and my girlfriend isnt in danger. people who think they have cold sores should verify that it isnt Angular cheilosis, they look similar if u arent accustomed to lesions on the lips.

That's very interesting. Another thing more I've learned.
