I'm cooking for my girlfriend next tuesday. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm not sure what to do. Now I can cook, but I dont know what to do in this instance. First of all she can eat pretty much anything except Apples, Citrus fruits, and Prawns, and she has a very wide and appreciate taste in food. Thats great but it doesnt help to narrow my options. The main problem is I dont want to cook anything too complex, as I dont want to either screw it up or make her feel pressured to live up to some lofty standard or make her feel like she owes me or something of that sort. We've only been together for about a month and a half you see. At the same time it does need to be as memorable and tasty, especially as she really apreciates nice food.Any help or suggestions or recipe ideas of any kind are very much welcome. So far I'm thinking of using duck. Its a bit pricey but we both like it, but I'm open to other meats. Can anybody help me out here?

Obviously I don't know what shit's like where your at but if it's like it is here I say make comfort foods. Here you can't go out and get a regular meal anymore. You either go have Mexican, or Chinese, or Italian, or Bar-B-Que, or Fish, or Steak. It's near impossible to get just regular normal food when you go out. And, for people who go out a lot those specialty flavors, even though they're good, get tired. There's a big demand around her for comfort foods (shit like your grandma used to cook) but restaurants can't stay in business selling that shit because of perceived value. Even though everybody wants to eat the home style stuff they won't go out and pay for it at a nice restaurant. Well, enough about the American foodservice industry. This is what I say you do, make a good meal that you think would be akin to something she would have loved that her grandma may have cooked for her and that she really can't get anywhere else now. It doesn't have to be anything fancy just good. Make the presentation the fancy part. If your going to take it on a picnic get a good basket and bring the glasses for the wine. Don't use a bag and pop cans. If your going to have it the house use the good china, or go out and buy two place settings of good china and stemware and use those. Decorate the table with center pieces and have the wine chilling in a bucket at the side of the table. Make it formal, linen napkins and all. Then if you want make the place settings and stemware part of the present to her. Whatever stay with the comfort foods. I think it might hit the mark your looking for.

Do you like the dark meat on a turkey? because that is pretty much what every piece of duck tastes like.Duck is not too pricey, atleast not here, goose is a pricey bastage though. and not really that good either.I would make some spaghetti, use ground sausage instead of burger, and pop some fucking garlic bread in the oven. All easy, and cheap, and always good.

Fuck next tuesday?
the 20th?
serve her dinner on fucking barak obama paper plates, use napkins that are red white and blue.
I realize living where you do it doesnt mean too much, but in the US, 1-20-09 marks the end of an error. -
