I can be kinda anal about my teeth. I've never had a cavity and never needed braces. When I went to the dentist last week (I had a sinus infection that was going down into my jaw) he said I had the most perfect healthy looking teeth he's seen. The roots where big and strong and if the rest of my body was like that I would be a hell of catch. LoLPats self on back The question... finally, I've read where nylon bristles, like on the brushes you get a the grocery store, are not good for your teeth. I'm going to throw down for a good natural hair brush where the hair isn't cut so it should be better for my teeth. How do I know what brush to use? Hard bristles? Medium bristles? Soft bristles?

Which toothbrush is the right one?

SOFT bristles only!!! Hard and even medium bristles can damage the gums and even been known to scratch the enamel. As a personal who is Anal about his teeth as well I understand completely hehe. I'm sure you already do, but make sure you floss everyday to keep the gums healthy and to avoid cavities between the teeth. I also recommend mouthwash to help keep gingivitis down to avoid gum disease.

I do all that other stuff, probably why I've never had a cavity. Originally Posted By: NtroducingMyselfSOFT bristles only!!! The part that comes in contact with your teeth isn't even cut. It's just the natural worn end of the hair. That way the end is rounded and supposedly isn't going to harm the enamel, like a sharp cut end... on cut hair.I've never used a natural bristle brush before and I guess I'm just making assumptions that being natural it's going to be limp. Which I'm sure isn't the case, so I shouldn't worry about getting something to soft. They do have extra soft badger hair, it's double the price. Does being extra soft make it better or can you get to soft?

Also I use tooth powder instead of tooth paste. What are the pro's and con's of that Dr. Eddie? I alway heard it was supposed to be better.

Honestly as long as you are using some sort of toothpaste that's all that matters, at least thats how we view it in my office lol.I've used both powder and paste, and both seemed to work just as well as the other. From what I understand the powder is free of the chemical that makes the toothpaste lather, but I could be wrong. There is a high debate whether that chemical should be allowed in toothpaste since it really doesn't do anything to promote oral health. So my personal opinion is it doens't matter which toothpaste/powder you use as long as you are using something :).

Well you want the bristles to be strong enough to remove plaque and food particles, so I guess there can be a point where the bristles can be too soft.
I will admit I don't know much about the badger hair toothbrushes. But the rule of thumb is to only use soft bristle brushes because the medium and hard bristles scratch the teeth and gums leaving rough edges for cavities to form and gum recession.

How do u use the powder?
-
I'm not Eddie but I'll tell ya how I use it and that way he can correct me if I'm doing anything wrong. It comes in a container with a little poor spout and I just poor the powder on my brush. I used to wet the brush first but I've recently stopped doing that I think it seems to work better. Then just put the brush to your teeth and brush as normal and rinse with warm water. It may be all in my mind but my teeth seem to feel much cleaner and smoother when I use the powder as apposed to the paste. I can't pronounce the powder I use and don't think I can even get close to spelling it. It has only three or four ingredients and while I can't remember what they are off had I can pronounce all of 'em and better yet I know what they all are.Ha! I could spell it. This is the shit I use.
