hokay, heres the story my girlfriend told me she takes bipolar meds recently, she showed me the two bottles one said doxycycline on it, i think. having heard that title before i looked it up and turns out its an antibiotic. i honestly dont remember the other one. maybe its just me but it seems slightly odd to be told youre taking bipolar meds when its something else before i jump to conclusions and open a can of worms i thought i would run it by you guys for your opininion the only way i could see this being logical is if said doxycycline is more of a placebo effect the other bottle of meds is bipolar meds that also as a side effect supress the imune system somehow her drepression is caused by an infection which im pretty sure is unlikelyjust wanted to hear your guys opinnion on this, and also do you think im being invasive checking out her meds like this? i mean it kinda seems wrong but i dont know

She may have had bipolar and later had some infection cos her immune system was not working well.........its not like the depression/bipolar was caused due to infection........its the other way around.I found this link that may help you clear your doubts.http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.php?type=doc&id=11205&cn=4

Perhaps she was prescribed the antibiotic for an infection and misunderstood the purpose of that pill.
It's also possible that she keeps her bipolar meds in old bottles that were originally used for something else - not a good practice if the label could lead to misidentification, but not so uncommon.

I keep my Niacin in a antibiotic bottle because I have it in two different places. It's by the bed for at night and in the Niacin bottle in the Medicine cabinet for in the morning. If your really, really feel this is important enough to bring up to her do it cautiously rather than in an accusatory manner. If you use a tone of blame you may end up with a result you neither intended or want. Say something like, "My cousin (or whoever that she doesn't know) told me he takes that for an antibiotic is he lying or fucked up or what?" That way you can question her without accusing her.Beyond that, does it really matter that much?
