Thanks for the link.........it will help me kill time as well

If you really want to kill shitloads of time use stumbleupon. If you use firefox it's available as a free app. Just press the stumble button and see what site it take you to next. It can kill hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours.

I do use firefox all the time
I dropped using windows long ago......got sick of crashes and restarts :smirk: -
1- please direct me to the books of the bible describing intellegent design2- please direct me to the archeological findings that confirm more than just historical points, such as miricles, etcthanks

...and this is different how?
I'm not going to do folks research for them. It's a waste of my time. But I'll give you a starting point. Search for the discovery of the ancient city of Jericho not too long ago (maybe 15 years or so). Until its discovery, athiests where swearing up and down it didn't exist. But the discovery of the city itself was only one item. What they found at the city (concerning Joshua and his sacking of it) is quite illuminating.

I dont deny that the books are an account of history but that DOES-NOT explain evolution.

Thor, what do you think Natural Selection is? Could you please describe it in your own words and why you find it to be so impossible?

I have some ideas...if you're interested. Evolution is in the "how".........thats what we are discussing here isnt it? The key to evolution--"how did we evolve?"......"what is the key to evolution?""who" isnt on my list though, I would prefer "what" and "how" instead of "who".........I am not interested in matters that cannot be explained with solid proof or scientifically. As far as I know research is still going on, I am waiting for what they are gonna find in the "junk DNA" section of our DNA. I used to believe Darwin was right when I was 8 yrs old........but I think he was only 50% right or maybe less than that........The tree of evolution is actually a web of life, Virus playing a major role in transferring bits of DNA from one specie to another.Who knows? Viruses and other microbes were the first living things on earth.......they may have played major roles in evolution.

Based on some of our other discussion concerning things we can't scientifically prove, I'd say you are interested in such postulations. But if it makes you uncomfortable to discuss such possibilities then there's nothing that says we have to.A couple of interesting ideas. Why are scientists always looking for a "missing link"? How come no animal or other form of life has been discovered while in the process of evolving? (Darwin himself studied over 3,000 species and never found one.)

I am but I dont wanna debate about religious stuff and science. It will put the whole forum in a heated debate and I dont wanna cause an uproar. Everyone is free to do as they please but they should also respect others views as well.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------As far as the "missing link" goes it could be very misleading but I dont deny anyone should stop researching. The "missing link" thought is from an era where biologists thought species didnt change and were "fixed".Species keep on changing, thats why its a web and not a tree........During the days of Darwin they didnt have the technology we have today to do more research..........no wonder he never found anything.

Scientists have found quite a few transitional fossils that show the evolution of homo sapien sapiens. Your God-of-the-gaps is being squeezed into smaller and smaller holes... The "missing link" is what scientists are still looking for...that which more closely connects present-day man with past "configurations". So far, they haven't found it...every time they think they have they discover it was a "dead-end" species (like Lucy...the latest one, I think).

Niether has anybody else. That's the point. It's almost as if a species is there, completely changed, in one day...as if it doesn't take a thousand, or even a hundred...or even one year. As if somebody picked up a creature one day, made some radical (not even remotely possible by natural selection for many reasons) changes and put it back on earth in a new form the very next day. Scientists can't find the missing link because, in my opinion, IT DOESN'T EXIST!!! -
Again, what would you expect an animal in the process of evolution to look like?

I am out of this thread.......its becoming more silly than an interesting debate Here are a few snippets for you thor:1-Y-chromosomal Adam probably lived between 60,000 and 90,000 years ago, judging from molecular clock and genetic marker studies. While their descendants certainly became close intimates, Y-chromosomal Adam and Mitochondrial Eve are separated by tens of thousands of years.--->>Human Evolution didnt happen overnight. Sorry that this proves Adam and Eve never slept together (In holy books' sense)......how could she be born before Adam when she was supposed to have been created by God after Adam was born? ........ROFL--->>My theory for the Y-Chromosomal Adam is that the particular genes were chosen mainly by Natural selection for various reasons and it may also have spread mainly due to inbreeding (and producing male offsprings), concentrating the particular genes in the human gene pool.2-Genetic evidence suggests that all humans alive today, despite their apparent variety, are descended from a very small population, perhaps between 1,000 to 10,000 breeding pairs about 70,000 years ago. --->>This coincides with the Y-chromosomal Adam stuff.3-Toba catastrophe theory--The consequences of a massive volcanic eruption severely reduced the human population. This has occurred around 70,000–75,000 years ago when the Toba caldera in Indonesia underwent an eruption of category 8 on the Volcanic Explosivity Index. 4-This massive environmental change may have created population bottlenecks in the species that existed at the time. This in turn accelerated differentiation of the isolated human populations, eventually leading to the extinction of all the other human species except for the two branches that became Neanderthals and modern Humans. 5-The Greenland ice core data displays an abrupt change around this time.6-Though the event that took place in Lake Toba is not conjectured to be an extreme bottleneck event. The complete picture of gene lineages (including present-day levels of human genetic variation) allows the theory of a Toba-induced human population bottleneck.7-The analysis of lice genes confirmed that the population of Homo sapiens mushroomed after a small band of early humans left Africa sometime between 150,000 and 50,000 years ago. And so does the analysis of the genetic diversity of H pylori bacteria (present in humans) which decreases with geographic distance from Africa indicating humans left Africa around 58,000 yrs ago. --->>Parasites did give some important information after all. 8-Two chromosomes in the Homo genus fused to produce human chromosome 2. This fusion did not occur in the lineage of the other apes, and they retain these separate chromosomes. In evolution, the most important role of such chromosomal rearrangements may be to accelerate the divergence of a population into new species by making populations less likely to interbreed, and thereby preserving genetic differences between these populations.9-Horizontal gene transfer is the transfer of genetic material from one organism to another organism that is not its offspring. Viruses can also carry DNA between organisms, allowing transfer of genes even across biological domains. Large-scale gene transfer has also occurred between the ancestors of eukaryotic cells and prokaryotes, during the acquisition of chloroplasts and mitochondria.10-Modern research has suggested that, due to horizontal gene transfer, the "tree of life" may be more complicated than a simple branching tree since some genes have spread independently between distantly-related species.--->>It would be more like a web or a network. 11-It is now becoming clear that most alterations in the form of organisms are due to changes in the level and timing of the expression of a small set of conserved genes. Example: a mutation in chickens causing embryos to grow teeth similar to those of crocodiles.--->>Maybe they are present in the "junk" part of DNA which is still being researched.12-Generally, if a structure pre-dates another structure in evolutionary terms, then it often appears earlier than the other in an embryo. For example, the backbone is a common structure among all vertebrates such as fish, reptiles and mammals, and the backbone also appears as one of the earliest structures laid out in all vertebrate embryos. The cerebrum in humans, which is the most sophisticated part of the brain, develops last.--->>All embryos (mammal and bird) appear to be so similar at 2-5 weeks age. Thor: If you think God is the key then you gotta show me where heaven is first and I wanna see the tree of knowledge and the Serpent as well, if they are dead then its fine show me their fossils........anything will do as long as you can show me where it is.
