Hey everyone I'm nearing my mid twenties and am about 6' 2" tall and weigh only about 145 lbs and have a BMI of only 19.2, which should be around 22. I am really skinny, especially for a guy or young man my age. I still weigh about the same as I did in high school even though I eat like crazy, consume protein shakes and milk shakes all the time and work out about every other day. I eat healthy, nutritious foods plus I can pig out on junk food and not gain a pound. I find it hard to even maintain this weight. My weight fluctuates, sometimes I weigh 145 lbs, other times I weigh 140, and sometimes I weigh about 147 - 148 lbs. The most I've ever weighed in my life was around 153 lbs, which was about a year ago. Of course I quickly lost that weight even while eating like crazy and working out and went back to about 145 lbs. I'm a "Late Bloomer" and look very young for my age, I could pass for around 18 or 19 years old even though I'm much older than that. I try sporting some facial hair to make myself look closer to my age otherwise I could always pass for being in my teens and nobody would take me seriously. I have very narrow shoulders and my wrists and arms are really thin, which resemble that of someone in their teens. This even affects my relationships with women because all throughout college women never wanted to go out with me because they thought I was too skinny for them, I have a great personality and am fairly attractive however I'm lacking a proportional body physique considering I'm trying to change it for the better without noticing any results. It also affects me being taken seriously and being considered for the position when it comes to employment. I am fairly thin which appears to make me look much younger than what I am that employers always ask my age and they don't believe me even when I tell them, which turns out that they don’t consider me because of my youthful appearance even though I go into the interview with confidence and am more than qualified to do the job. Well I sure hope that my metabolism starts to slow down a bit because I don't want to be this way in about a half decade or so when I'm 30 and have the same ole' skinny, high school aged body frame that I had when I was a teenager. Is there anyone else around my age that shares the same or similar problem as I? I'm sure there are a lot more individuals out there that share this problem and are very self-conscious about the way they look but are too embarrassed to talk about it. Does anyone think there is still hope for me to bulk up or will I be this way for the rest of my life? Maybe I’m just genetically skinny? I’m of a man's age and I should have filled out naturally by now; I just want to have a proportional body physique that resembles that of a man instead of a boy or teenager. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance!!!

I'm still thin, can't bulk up...need advice

Most ectomorphs find that as they get older they do start getting wider (fat rather than muscle, though). I used to be very thin no matter what I ate, and I looked very young for my age (I was mistaken for 14 when I was 21), but neither of those are true any more.

Eat more less times a day. Eating like crazy WILL increase your metabolism and yes it can make a huge difference. If you start only eating once or twice a day and having fairly large meals you should bulk up.Allot of people say this does not work, but as it's worked for a couple of my friends and my brother I'm going to have to beg to differ. He went from 118-155. in a few months, he's younger then you

That plan worked probably because your friends were young and they didnt have the same problems with metabolism all they did was up calorie intake..Any bodybuilder will tell you EAT, EAT, EAT. That means up to 5 or 6 meals a day! You need to eat high calorie dense meals, and you also should be taking weight gainer protein shakes, as well as carb shakes. Great sources of calories. Also your workout plan should not have a lot of cardio in it, if any. Look up the plan Madcow 5x5

As everyone else has said; **EAT!
**
It's not rocket science. You may think you're eating a lot, but if you actually measured everything little single thing you ate in a day, and compared it to some of the bigger guys you're age you would see quite a difference. If you're really keen, do some big lifts like squats and deadlifts. These lifts will encourage your body to grow and increase your appetite.

Quote: neither of those are true any moreNow he looks like his display pic. lmao (sorry ineligible I had to pick at you! ) Now- seriousness…I eat a lot of Grilled Chicken, Steak, Tuna, pork chops, Burgers, Penutbutter sandwiches, Mac& Cheese, cereal (supposed to eat eggs but I hate them… so morning breakfast is cereal, waffles or (and sometime both cereal and waffles) Oatmeal with a protein shake to go… I eat a lot of fruit too.. Bananas, grapes, oranges, peaches , apples, some fruit that looks like a peach but it’s not. I dk what it’s called but I like them. lol it’s about calories, carbs and protein.. EATING I eat so much my mom swears she’s at the grocery store every other day. lol I work out one part of my body a visit to the gym. Even if I pass the gym one day I still do some things at home (sit ups, push ups…things like that) I work out for 45 mins. 5 days a week. I am just like you. You’re a 1” taller tho. Lol no really if I didn’t eat so much and keep myself going I’d bet I’d be like 140s. I was like 135-140 before I started hitting the gym and changing my eating. When I started bulking up my age looks changed. when I was like 135-140pounds size (oh and I wasn’t 6’1” yet.. I was like 5’11” then so I was still growing too) when I was like …19 I looked 17 but now I’m 20 I look like a 20 year old (minus the face hair - hasn’t started growing yet) I’ve always looked younger until I started gaining muscle. My Weight goes up and down. When I get sick I don’t eat or work out and the weight drops quick.
