More Than Words
Youtube Video
I must say I agree with you. It's a great song.
sorry but I have to admitt that I've hated "more than words" from day one. It's sappy on the surface and I remember all the girlies thinking it was romantic and shit when the underlting message is "don't tell me you love me, just get down and prove it" Now, I don't object to a love song abour sex. "Lets Fuck" by DOA is one of my favorite love songs but unlike Extreme, they don't hide the message in a sentimental rock ballad.that reminds me, Bif Naked sang a song with DOA a few years back. It wasn't a great song at all but her sexy, smokey voice and Joey Shithead's big, deep gravel made for a very nice duet.

I'm not saying you gotta go buy the album...just that girls are more romantic and subtle, and blatant songs with titles like "Lets Fuck" ain't makin' it with the vast majority of ladies. Your choice. When my wife and I are in the car, we'll usually listen to classical or jazz...which we both like (my wife is a professional flautist). But in my shop in the basement, it's Joe Satriani, Rush, etc. We, as men, need to face the fact that there is just some music out there that the majority of girls are never going to "get"...it's just not in their blood.

But 'More than Words', at least when I listen to it, is not about sex. To me, it's about, well, doing something more. In the sense that a guy/gal can tell you they love you till they're blue in the face, but then they treat you like crap so it doesn't really mean anything. But now I'm getting 'sappy' and that may annoy you.
The same way you hate my sentimental rock ballads, I dislike the vulgarities used in that ''Let's Fuck''. (I looked up the lyrics and only saw the first five lines...if it gets any better along the way, please excuse this comment).
I'm probably one of the romantic 'girlies' you mentioned in your post. But what's wrong with saying ''don't tell me you love me, just get down and prove it''?

I know who simon is but the reast.... No clue, hell I can't even say those other names.
as for Greatest Vocal Pair... i don't know but i like Amy Lee's voice...
I was just being dickish to Mr. U, pointing out his age and the fact that Simon and Garfunkel were long before Steph's time. Just like Ludwig and Malvina were long before his time. It was just droll humor for my own entertainment.

I've seen Damien Rice live three times and each time was disappointed that he didn't have Lisa with him. (Although he puts on a whale of a rock and roll show without her!)
If you like her voice, you should know she recently released her own solo cd called 'See Sew'.
thanks for the advice but I've enjoyed a prolific love life ranging from the filthy to the romantic without having to pretend I like sentimental schlock... or kitties and bunnies for that matter.
now, back to duets. I can't believe that I totaly forgot about Meatloaf and Ellen Foley! How classic were they!?
Also, Grant Hart and Bob Mould of Husker Du. Although they shared the vocal duties depending on who wrote the song, they also sang together frequently. All the little emo snots should have a listen to Husker Du to find out the roots of Emo-Core
And yes people, I know Lets Fuck was written for fun but at least it isn't hiding it's intentions behind a poem and a bouquet!

It's not as if it were crass garbage like Barry Manilow. And the only reason I mention it at all is because I've seen you complaining on this board before (though it's been awhile).
Ready to Take a Chance AgainYou remind me I live in a shell,Safe from the past, and doing' okay, but not very well.No jolts, no surprises,No crisis arises:My life goes along as it should,it's all very nice, but not very good. And I'm Ready To Take A Chance Again,Ready to put my love on the line with you.Been living with nothing to show for it;You get what you get when you go for it,And I'm Ready To Take Chance Again with you. When she left me in all my despair,I just held on,My hopes were all gone. Then I found you there. And I'm Ready To Take A Chance AgainReady To Take A Chance Again with you,With you.
thank you Thor.Music hasn't been the problem and plenty of women also hate sentimental music and love the crazy stuff I love. I've actually dated women who have very different tastes to mine and it often became an issue after time. It's like any major difference though, it can chip away at a relationship. The lovely lady I'm with now (and hopefuly for quite some time to come) shares much of my musical taste. She also has a liking for some (GASP) country music but she's cute enough for me to forgive that minor transgresion You're right though. I couldn't pretend to like somethikng nore would I expect someone to pretend to like something for my benifit. And, maybe some day, I'll actually admit to the silly sentimental songs that I do like
She also has a liking for some (GASP) country music but she's cute enough for me to forgive that minor transgression."Minor? When did that become minor?
ouch... my brain

When did that become minor? she doesn't subject me to it, not even in her car. As long as it's elsewhere, I can consider it minor (and she really is stunning!)
just to fill in the gaps.... my sister and my girlfriend both remember "more than words" as being a song about a girl "proving it" instead of "saying it"
