My mom was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer last year. As many of you might know, Thyroid cancer would be the one cancer you would want to get if you could pick (or skin cancer because of skin grafts). Unfortunately, cancer is NOT good, and my mother had it. She has currently undergone a iodine diet, surgery to remove the thyroid, and radiation (not chemotherapy, but a radioactive pill. It was an agressive form of the cancer, so obviously the doctors has to do something quick...Anyways, they scanned her, pretty much said that it was gone. About 2 months later after her checkup, somethings found. She has cancer STILL. Now it is common for cancer to remain even after the series of treatments that a patient goes through, but this is a little ridiculous. ---------------------------------------- My Aunt was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer AS WELL!! It appears that there may be a hereditary factor involved with Thyroid cancer. Most doctors say that there MIGHT be a hereditary factor involved, but it has not been proven or concluded. She went under all of the treatments, most of which my mother went through. She currently has no sign of cancer, but from the above text, it is possible for it to return. I've no news of whether it was an aggressive form or not, but either way it would only affect the speed of spreading.------------------------------------------------------------------My grandfather recently just passed away a week ago. I cried a lot, my mother cried a lot, my dad was heartbroken, and his wife, the person that practically ruined his life and shows no remorse cried. It was a very mournful moment, and added on to the stress I have. He passed away because of Cancer. He was diagnosed with Skin cancer several, several years back. He was an airplane mechanic and had spent most of his military life and life itself in the sun. We really weren't surprised, but we were worried, because it is cancer. He had a skin graft, and had it successfully removed. A few years later he was diagnosed with Stomach and Esophageal cancer. This is a very bad type to get, and he basically spent the remaining of his life through a feeding tube. The hospital he was at (not a military hospital) basically fucked up with his surgery. They fucked up the scans and missed the further cancer spots located on the xrays ( or cat scan, don't remember). He had his stomach and esophagus removed, and spent life with the tube. He passed away about 2 years later.( FYI he also went through Chemo)All of these people in my family were on my moms side.----------------------My great uncle, a wonderful man, was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer, one of what seems the deadlier types of cancer. This was diagnosed about 4-5 months ago If you didn't know, the pancreas pretty much controls how you live (including bodily functions). He died about a month after diagnosis. This is my fathers side.-----------What the hell?? I mean seriously. Does this mean that I will get cancer? I know theres practically no way to prevent cancer ( Except stay outta the sun and basically overdose on vitamins). My life, at this point, is nearly unbearable. There are too many good people in my family that are getting the worst it seems.

Cancer seems to run on my Mom's side of the family too. My paternal great-grandmother died from it and my granpa has recently been diagnosed with it, but he seems to be doing okay. I hope. I lost my uncle, my Mom's brother, to it over the summer. They all had the same type - it was an aggressive tumour that spread literally everywhere. Well, that's how it was described to me. I know how it sucks to see them die such a slow and painful death. Sometimes you just wish it would end. Last year, the doctors discovered cancer in my Mom, but it was caught early and removed. Hopefully she will remain cancer-free. She now goes for very-regular check-ups.I feel for you and am sorry you have to go through this. If you need to talk or anything let me know.

It's possible for people to be genetically more disposed to cancer in general, but one should also remember that cancer is now a very common way that people die, because they live longer on average, and the older you get, the more likely you are to get cancer. But I'm very sorry - you've been having a terrible time.
