I'm curious to see what all of you think about this.I'm not entirely sure of what I think about it yet, it seems like top much is being taken away to better it, and it's good already, some things maybe just need to be changed. What I think: Care first, don't ask "Do you have insurance?" What happened to not refusing medical care, whether or not you can pay for it? It's becoming a business, hospitals, looking for ways to make people happier, like my mom, at her hospital that she works at, when a "customer" leaves, they give them a "customer satisfaction survey", they aren't patients anymore, and I don't know how you can make someone that's dying, a customer. You're not [in most cases] choosing which hospital to go to, and you sure as hell aren't choosing the cost of everything. My wheelchair cost me [just the frame] probably about $5,000, and that's basically just [about] 10-15 pounds of titanium, with nylon and poly-resin for the seat bases. The wheels are $10,000, but that's different...What Obama wants: CUT federal funding to hospitals, to make insurance cheaper. CUT funding for Medicare and -caid by $313 BILLION. $635 BILLION in a "down-payment" consisting of tax INCREASES and spending CUTS. How do you make better care, when you take away funding for the machines that provide that care. He says that, in the long run, it will be about $1 TRILLION dollars to get what he wants [universal health care].If you want to give better care, reduce the costs of insurance. Tell them, they can't make a profit, they're there to provide help should you need it. My mom had to FIGHT for my wheelchair, the insurance wouldn't pay for it because it "wasn't a MEDICAL NECESSITY." I think they just wanted to save the $15,000 to line their pockets. And how, pray tell, is a w/c, NOT, a med. necessity?I just love how Obama too, says "Oh yeah, I'll take care of it, but we need to do x, y, and z..." What does he plan to do, pay with a credit card? You need to have money for these things. You can't print more money and use that. Oh, but wait...I don't think that it will work. Ever. You need a compromise, between the two. But when 59% of Americans agree with it...maybe they just need to go out and READ and EDUmaCATE themselves a little bit, yeah? Orig. Article

Healthcare "Reform"

I dunno... I work in the health field, and I can agree the whole system (especially the Medicaid system) is a complete mess.
Though I cannot say I agree with everything Obama wants to do, I can say at least he's doing something. For the last 8 years we had a president who never seemed to want to address the medical issues. I guess all we can do it hope it all turns out for the best in the end, though as much as I like the thought of a Universal Health Care I am just not sure its something that's feasible at this point in American.
Now if they need help reworking the Medicaid system, they can come talk to me. I can certainly give them some ideas on how to save money!!!

it seems Obama is forced to come up with this crazy ass scheme to improve the system because his hands are tied by the countless Americas who fear universal healthcare.

Yeah, I'll give you that too, that the whole things a mess. But you wouldn't bomb your house or take a section of it off to clean it, would you?
But yes, at least he's doing something. Maybe something will come of this that the AMA can agree on, and it won't be as messed as the prez wants.U: But if I read that article correctly, forgive me if I didn't, 59% of Americans are for Uni. health care?
