So true. It’s crazy because I remember when I was younger even bathing with my father... and my mother for the matter and no one thought twice about it. It wasn't odd or out of place back than. Now people start to think there is suspicious behavior as soon as they hear about children bathing with their parents. I also used to sleep with my parents as well; it was a comfort thing for me when I was younger. And maybe I'll get backlash for saying this (lord knows MJ did) I do think there is something beautiful about sleeping with your children. It’s a closeness that you cannot duplicate. I don't have any children but when my niece and nephew where younger I used to sleep in the same bed as them or cuddle and nap on the couch with them and I thought it was a beautifully sweet thing.I truly feel the only reason MJ got so much crap for saying what he said and/or doing the things he did was because he was very eccentric. If he wasn’t so eccentric I doubt there would have been as much public out cry.I guess I think of it like this. We have all seen the pictures of half naked men holding a naked baby against his chest and all go “awww that’s so cute” because there is just a sweet innocence about the image. Now if we imagine MJ doing the same thing, people automatically start calling him a pedophile, strange, inappropriate etc. The difference between the two is the first guy is a good looking in shape “normal” looking male, where MJ is eccentric in both actions/lifestyle and looks.

If he was the original "pore some sugar on me" guy his picture was on the billboard.

I don't think it was until the mid-eight's that nakedness became a dirty thing.I'm thirty-five and my mother still loves to tell the story of how when I was little kid I was taking a bath with dad and I saw his dick in the water and went "Boat! Daddy, boat!" Dad and mom would laugh about it and mom would say I said "dingy" and dad would laugh and say I said "battleship."

I used to take my son in the shower with me for the sake of convenience. We'll still share a bed when on vacation or under similar circumstances.I guess that anti-family conspiracy caught up with us when my wife went nutso a buggered off... damn heterosexual weirdos!

I can assure you that such rules exist as much for the protection of the adult as for the child.I deal with this in my line of work, at least on the level of having a fear of how I'm perceived. The thing is, I love teenage boys. I absolutely love them. They are amazing creatures. But I feel sometimes that being a single adult male, I'm open to suspect any time I have any kind of relationship with a boy, whether it's a professional relationship, a friendship, or a director/mentor relationship.I remember a few years ago in grad school we were talking about boundaries with clients and this topic came up. I believe we were talking about appropriate physical contact with clients. I mentioned the fact that when a boy left my office, I had a tendency to place my hand on their shoulder and say "have a good day" or some such thing. Very innocent, no boundaries crossed (I thought). But some whack-job woman in the class stated that if she saw me do that with her son she would report me as having inappropriate contact. How absurd is that? Who's going to pay the price when her son grows up to face some serious challenges because she's denied him any kind of healthy relationships with adult men?
