L.A. OKs moratorium on fast-food restaurants LOS ANGELES - City officials are putting South Los Angeles on a diet. The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to place a moratorium on new fast food restaurants in an impoverished swath of the city with a proliferation of such eateries and above average rates of obesity. The yearlong moratorium is intended to give the city time to attract restaurants that serve healthier food. The action, which the mayor must still sign into law, is believed to be the first of its kind by a major city to protect public health.......
I'm personally okay with this and wish more cities would do this. There is a lack of places you can eat, for a reason about of money, that have fresh healthy foods.
wowfirst, how stupid are the cattle that they need the government to tell them where to eat for their own good.second, I thought America was a free country (tongue firmly in cheek)third, it still amazes me at how different the prices of both fast food and groceries are in the US compared to here. I hear of poor people who are forced to eat McDonalds because they're poor, yet I can buy a whole, fresh chicken for the same price as a Big Mac Combo.
Out of like 15 places to eat in the mall there is only like one healthy one!!
People should be smart enough to know where to eat.. I choose to eat at Opa! instead of mcdonalds or taco bell or everywhere else.. Sometimes I choose to eat a little crappier.. but thats my choice.. I dont need someone else to decide what i should and shouldnt eat.
