ok so it's Saturday and I got a circumcision on Tuesday. Right after I took off my bandages on Thursday, I noticed something strange. ...I was circed but I couldn't see my whole penis head! There was a huge swollen pink "ring" around the penis base that was so large it was in fact covering about the last 1/4 of the head. Behind it were the stitches that connect it to the rest of the skin on my shaft. Judging just by how it looks, I am assuming that this is the region from where the foreskin was cut....But then shouldn't that area be 'beneath' the cap of the head (and not some big puffed ring)? Here this is what I mean... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/63/Circumsised_penis_-Flacid_and_Erect-_High_Res.jpgYou see in the flaccid picture the oddly coloured area between the head of the penis and the rest of the shaft? - From the part where that vein stop being visible? Well mine's HUGE and is swollen to the point of devouring the last 1/4 of the head! like some puffy ring! I can't imagine it ever shrinking completely down to the point where my head covers it, like in pictures of circed penises. Right now I'm hoping that this is what people mean by "swelling after circumcision"--I thought that was just general swelling but this is ridiculous..Anyone had a similar experience or know if this is normal?Anyone know what this is? Was my penis skin simply too long even without the foreskin and do I have to deal with this "second foreskin" now??

Swelling behind penis head! - post circumcision

may I ask, why did you go for a circ as an adult?
-
Why did I go?...interesting question. Originally it started 2 years ago when I masturbated once with axe shower gel (with menthol?) that really irritated my penis skin and made it lose sensation, also making the skin really stretched, loose and wrinkly. THAT problem was never fixed even though I went to 2 urologists, 2 GPs and a dermatologist over that time. (a couple of them thought I was making "too big a deal" of it, and one even recommended I seek counseling.) Eventually I went to a GP who believed me and said I definitely was not obsessing (and also that the guy who suggested it was nuts). He also said it could have been menthol in the gel but offered no solution. So I was really pissed with the situation by this point and thought to hell with it, why don't I at least try to remove as much of that stretchy wrinkly numb skin as possible in the form of a circumcision - it made sense as I was also having trouble retracting the foreskin when erect. (the 2 things coupled were giving me a hard time feeling any sensation and making it difficult to masturbate). The urologist agreed to do it on the grounds that I couldn't retract the foreskin, since he too didn't have a solution to the original problem. So now I'm hoping that the exposed head and perhaps removal of some numbed skin will allow me to stimulate myself more easily and get hard like I used to (thought I can't be sure yet). ...At any rate I at least won't have a phimosis problem anymore.Wow that took long to type. Sorry if it's way too confusing and makes no sense to you - a couple of the doctors I spoke to didn't get it either - I guess cause the numbed/stretchy problem has never before come up in the history of urology...

oh and thanks Rad. I guess you're right - as long as it can retract. which it can, when I pull the inflamed "ring" back. I guess even if as much skin as I thought wasn't removed (like in a partial circ), it doesn't really matter, since I know that my head will be fully exposed when erect.

I can't imagine contact with menthol destroying nerves. Also, post circ exposure of the head will reduce sensitivity. You mention phimosis, which is the first real possible problem
-
hey unsupervised, believe it or not, but you telling me that didn't magically make me realize that the loose numb skin wasn't a "real"problem. Know that I've been debating this myself since 2007. Just because you are trying to follow Occam's Razor doesn't mean you are automatically able to dismiss totally what I say my problem is.

I think you can't really judge how the circumcision will look until the swelling has gone, and they may take some weeks.
