Hi,I am a 17 year old male who is uncircumcised. I haven't had sex but have received oral and everything but. I was just wondering, why I don't produce any precum? My penis head is very dry. When retracting my foreskin (flaccid or erect) it sticks to the head at times and takes a bit of effort to retract fully due to my penis head being so dry. Is there anything I can use to stop my penis head being so dry? Another question I have is about smegma. What should I wash with? When I wash with soap and warm water in the shower it doesn't remove the smegma. It's so hard to get off and I usually have to use a towel to rub it off which is painful and takes ages. I know soap could be a reason why my penis head is dry, however when I just use water to wash my penis head (for a week or two) it doesn't moisten up and I can't keep it smelling clean if I just use water. Please help me, I am sick of a dry penis head that's pretty sensitive and makes retracting my foreskin difficult.Thank You.

Dry penis head

Welcome to A2A, jarry92!If precum lubricates the penis head, it does so only when you are erect, and not most of the time. It's likely that its main function is just to lubricate the urethra internally. Different people produce different amounts, and some of us produce very little.Perhaps the issue is rather that your sebaceous glands don't produce much sebum. Is your skin dry generally? Are you on Accutane/Roaccutane?In any case one suggestion would be that you try washing the smegma off using a moisturising lotion, or even a little cooking oil (more effective than baby oil).

Hi,No my skin isn't dry at all generally. It' s just the head of my penis and the sticking of my foreskin is rather annoying.I'm not on any of those drugs listed.Also...how can I get rid of sensitivity? and...Can't cooking oil cause an infection? Do you mean like cooking oil as in olive oil?

Then maybe you could just try lotion? Maybe once a night, or after every shower or something, if most other skin isn't as dry? Lubriderm is a really good one, though I think a little expensive. In terms of washing, have you tried liquid soap, as opposed to bar soap? Usually liquid soaps have more moisturizers, etc. in them, and that might help cleaning and re-hydrating wise.

Yes olive oil or other similar oils. They shouldn't cause an infection.Dealing with sensitivity is a matter of time, getting the glans used to touch.

Hi guys,Thanks for all the help so far Yes I do use liquid soap. It irritates my penis head and makes it really red, however it's not itchy or sore. Sometimes the top burns when soap gets in the urethra though.I have used baby oil/olive oil but I found that being waterproof, it doesn't wash off so it just causes further bacteria build up and more smegma. Same with lotions...Is this normal? Thanks.

Hi,I have changed soaps multiple times. It doesn't irritate me anywhere else but the head of penis. I have used mild soaps, fragrance free soap, sensitive skin soap....everything possible. They all end in the same outcome. No smegma cleans off unless I use oil to lift it off and I end up with a dry penis head. Oh well. I guess I can just keep using baby oil to keep it moist. Thanks.

Same with lotions...Is this normal? The reason that the soap only irrritates your knob and nowhere else is because you're not getting it all off your knob and the inside of your foreskin and then it is trapped under your foreskin when it returns forward. The skin covering your knob and the inside of your foreskin is completely different, more like the inside of your mouth, that's why it's generally not advised to use soap there. As far as having trouble rubbing the smegma off, how often are you retracting your foreskin to wash? If its not daily try skinning bac more often to wash. Soap will also have the affect of drying out any oils in the smegma making a right bitch to clean away.Your body also also tends to change in cycles. Teen years are quite different than other times of life.As for that sticking, your foreskin doesn't slide back, it inverts or turns inside out, so what you're feeling is your foreskin sticking to your knob as you pull it right back. Again, this can be either the frequency you retract and/or the soap.Greetz,Christiaan (NL)

Thanks heaps for your advice Christian  Was very helpful. I'll make sure I rinse the soap off properly and retract more. And... I do wash my penis daily and retract it in the shower. However, other than that...I don't really retract it...even during masturbation, I never pull it all the way back. By retracting it more, maybe it will improve? Thanks again.
