Quote:At the time the Bible was written, people needed to reproduce for the strength of the community... While I am all for gay marraige, etc...I want to point this out.The Commandments were written about then, too. So does that mean that it was written that you shouldn't kill because they needed people to reproduce, and murder would reduce the number of able people, so now you should be allowed to, because there are more than 7 billion people in the world? Does that mean that you shouldn't steal, because food and money was scarce, but now that they're both more than abundant, that it's fine to do so?I understand where you're/he's coming from, but you have to consider these things too.

Personally I beleave that the old testament should be thrown out because, Jesus showed us everything we need to know. People will disagree with me but, I will say that there are some lesons to learn from the old testament but that's it. If you take it wor for word then you end up like the puritians and there witch hunt and Indian killings. That is why I don't think that the old testament should be taught only to teach the stories not the rules. And I would love to see gay marriage all over the country and, people who say that we are redifining mariage by gay marriage then they are hypocrites. Because they redefined it already.

No...you want it thrown out because it disagrees with your point of view. And if you can successfully throw it out, you can continue to believe however you want to instead of changing your ways. But if you throw one part out, you might as well throw it all out because it will do you no good.Christ came to fulfill the law as found in the OT. Without the OT, there is no need for Christ in our lives.

Though I get what you are saying, I think you are reading a lot into just one sentence in a whole essay ;). I don't think the author was trying to say we should ignore everything in the bible, but instead just giving an example of the times compared to today. That was just my take anyways

Though I agree the OT shouldn't be thrown out, we are also not meant to live our lives by the OT, but instead learn from the OT. We live our lives by the NT.
Also, I love how you say "instead of changing your ways", I still think you have this idea that being homosexual is something you can change, something a person chooses to be. I wish it was that simple, you have no idea. It I could just simply decide to be straight and actually be straight I would have already done it.

Yes intro that's what I ment. Thanks for explaining it. I second if I could be straight I would.
