Watch Here. When I first saw this I thought it was either a concept video or someone making a joke video of some sort. But it turns out that its real, its coming soon and was already announced and demoed at E3 earlier this Summer.People playing it - 1, 2, 3.Any edge that the Nintendo Wii had will soon be gone!

Project Natal
-
Project Natal was officially announced at this year's E3 but Microsoft had been dropping hints about it for over 2 years now. The infared sensor, monochrome CMOS chip, ambient noise supressing spacial mic, and full RGB cam should let it pinpoint, and follow subjects far better than the Wii even with its enhanced tracking addon. As usual though the proof will be in what sort of games released that make use of it.

the first time I heard of this, I thought that it was somewhat unbelieveable or, at the least, unaffordible.it seems pretty slick but I can also see where it falls down. A driving game, for instance. Pretending to hold a wheel is even more lame than driving with a joystick.

I'll be content if I get to wear my speed racer jumpsuit with theme music blasting through the speakers!
"Go speedracer he's a demon on wheels!"

The video makes it look really cool, but I'm unsure about it.Mr. U and Rune bring up two good points, will it be affordable and will it have good games? The only reason why the Wii was successful for the past two years is because of it's reasonable price. However, most of their games, on the other hand, have done mostly poorly. The Wii Sports Resort (to my surprise) has sold over a million copies in the US. I think the Wii Motion Plus is a stupid add on. As far as I know, only Sports Resort and Tiger Woods are the only two games that are compatable with the Motion Plus. How stupid is that?I don't see how Project Natal will appeal to the 360 audience seeing how most 360 owners are well between the ages of 17-30. The Wii was designed for mostly kids/families and casual gamers. XBox360 is for more serious, hardcore gamers.

I agree with you, Star. And to add to all your points, I would imagine it's going to be a good 5 years, at least, until MS is done with it. That aside, for the first few years it's going to be out, it's probably going to be way to expensive for the casual owner/gamer or family to want to buy it, even with all the neat stuff it can do with Netflix and MS/XBox/Zune Marketplace.

I wonder what the natal will do if you're just sitting on the couch, crackin' one off

Wouldn't be the first time machines wanted you to do things with them."I'm waiting Dave." "Put it in me Dave."
