I think I posted here a while ago asking what people thought about my ex getting engaged to a girl he just met this year and didn't even know her for half a year.Well...I'm not really mad about that seeing as we had only gone out for a month and had whatever it was for another 6 to 7 months, but that was almost like 3 years ago.The thing is, I want to try to be friends with him, mainly because we hang out with mutual friends.I mean, we just sorta stopped talking and got busy with our own things, not that we were mad at each other or anything...and the next thing I find out he gets himself engaged.Because I have mutual friends with him and his brother, I have a feeling that we might be at some event randomly and bump into each other if they ever have anything. I already had this happen once with my ex's brother where I hung out with him without my ex because we were hanging out with our mutual friends...it was so awkward even hanging out with my ex's brother...they're around the same age.I was curious, is it possible to be friends with an ex who is engaged? His "fiance" might jump to conclusions as to why I want to be friends with him, but I really don't want him back at all. I only want to be his friend just because we hang out with some mutual friends and don't want it to get angry weird if we ever bump into each other through mutual friends again...otherwise if we had no mutual friends, I wouldn't want to bother to get myself into an extremely awkward situation. =/Thanks in advance if you have any advice in how to go about this. Have you ever been in a situation like this?
An awkward situation?
People do break up and still hang around with mutual friends and with each other. It depends on the maturity of the people and the reasons why they break up.You shouldn't let your ex dictate your life, if you want to see these mutual friends, then see them. If you bump into him or his fiancée, just treat them like a normal person and say "Hi how are you" and move on. You're there to see your friends, just don't be disrespectful to anyone, that way HOPEFULLY everyone can have a good time
