Hey all,I have a simple question about my knees... for as long as I can remember my knees would start hurting right around 3-4pm and continue throughout the rest of the day... they would only hurt if I did something that would put strain on them like go up/down stairs or run or bend down and pick things up... but lately (maybe last 2-3 weeks) they've been hurting a LOT more... sometimes it hurts so much that I walk differently so I won't have to bend my knee as much as when I walk "normal"... I always thought that happened to everyone which is why I never bothered asking about it but since it's been getting worse I thought I should just ask to see if anyone knows what's going on and what I can do about it...

Knees
-
see your doctor about it, you could've twisted something
-
I don't know much about twisted knees or whatever, but if I really did twist something does it make sense for it to "continue" to be twisted many years later? Since my knees have been like this for as long as I can remember... then maybe I twisted something recently which explains the increase in pain? I don't know... is there any other way to find otu without seeing a doctor?
-
what's wrong with seeing a doctor?
-
how old are you again?
-
@Amanda:Because if I tell my parents I want to see a doctor about my knee or anything else they will just tell me "You'll be fine, no need to waste money to go see a doctor" ....@Diver: 15

Stuff like that shoundn't be over looked because it could possibly create life long damage. Also going to the doctor is cheap if you have Health Insurance.

I used to have knee pain like yours. It wouldn't happen every day, but come on once every month or so and be extreme. I did go to the doctor and my pain was caused by growing too much in a short amount of time. The knee caps didn't have time to grow and smooth out underneath from use. So they wouldn't move smoothly over the bone and shift and cause pain. I would have to walk differently as well and my knees would give out and I'd stumble. Just wanted to point out a possibility, but as everyone else has said...going to the doc is best. Good luck.
-
@Aisy: Thx for your reply and that might be it since I don't know how much I've grown recently.. it's always a possibility..@all: I'll ask my mom if she will go to the doctor with me but I'm home alone right now (which is why I'm able to be online, I'm actually grounded from the computer) ... I'll let you all know what happens...Today my knees started literally killing me around 10am (I guess since school started and I used my legs a lot more) and I could barely walk at all... it was horrible...It still hurts now but it's not that bad meaning I could still deal with it but I hope this doesn't hurt so much when walking around school every day...

Good luck with the doctors. In the meantime, some pain killers might actually take the edge off the pain. That was all that was recommended for me. Take care.
-
Only thing I have around is Aspirin... if I can find it...
-
As Aisy said; Growth pains.I suffered badly when I was younger with rapid growth spurts. If you can try using knee supports for a while and see if that helps, in a lot of cases it should. Ibroprofin, should also help and will ease any swelling that may/may not be occurring. (just remember to eat before you take it).

Fuck this whole shit, why do I even bother to even think about asking my parents something???? It never has done anything, why would it be the different this time?? I hate those fucking people... maybe if I just cut off my legs I wouldn't have any pain... or I guess I'll just have to live with it... like so many other pains and problems... I hate my life...
-
i used to get pains in my legs whenever i got dehydrated, maybe you should drink a glass of water
-
I doubt I've been dehydrated just about 24/7 for the last few years...
-
didn't you say they started around 3 or 4 o'clock and only when you've been climbing stairs or something?
-
Yah, well that was before I went back to school... in school I obviously do a lot more walking and shit and I have a gym class 1st period so that doesn't help the situation either... now they just hurt sometime during/after 1st period... it all sux but I guess I just gotta live with it...

I've had knee problems for years and I find that stretching first thing in a.m. and whenever I get the pain really helped me. If your muscles are tight, especially around the knee, they can pull it out of balance and cause pain. Knees are a funny joint, since we became bipedal, the old body had to adapt and the way our knees are, is not the most stable joint. Also, have you tried taking ibuprofen? It will help with pain or inflammation. Icing it for 15 minutes too can help with both of those too. Good luck.
-
I don't and can't get access to any medication, so no...
-
It's easy to get ibuprofen. It's just Advil. Go to the drugstore.
