HiI wonder if someone would be good enough to help please.I have always been somewhat reluctant to go to a doctor. For some reason when ever i go in i come out in worse condtion than when i went in... thats just a bit of humour after having an alergic reaction to some antibiotics.I had sex with a girl freind of mine some while back, problably about 4 months ago. In talking to her the other day she said that she caught thrush from me.... but she had also had sex with her former partner about 2 - 3 weeks earlier.I did some reading up about thrush aon the internet and it talks about a "Cottage Cheese" substance under the foreskin. I have never had anything like that at all. Is there any checks i can do to test for thursh or anything i can get at the shops?PS I also recall reading about penis itching... i have never had any major or persistanting itching. No more than i would get on a day to day basis anyway.Any help would be appreciated.Cheers.

If you had an active case fo thrush, you would most likely have some itching, redness, red spots and some whitish secretions under the forskin.I couldn't say what exactly causes thrush, but a change in her vaginal chemistry could certinly cause it.. Can sex itself cause a reaction?.. possibly..

Thrush is caused by a yeast: a single-celled fungus. It is possible to have a low-grade infection that you can pass on but not notice any symptoms yourself. Even if you didn't give it to the girl, if she got it from her former partner she could well have passed it on to you. (In fact, it is very possible to get thrush without sex, because fungus spores are everywhere.)You can get cream to treat it from a pharmacy without prescription. In fact, any anti-fungal cream will do, so anything for tinea (athlete's foot) or ringworm or jock itch would be fine. Rub it in well, including the inside of the foreskin, at least daily, for two weeks.

HiSorry for the delay in replying. Due to christmas I have been away and not long been home from break away.I definately do not have any itchyness at all, nor do i have any white dishcharge or anything along those lines. The thing was that at the time i was giving anal sex and i accedtnally popped out and went into her pussy by mistake... for not more than 3/4 of a second. JUst one of those things. I will take on board what you say about the cream. I may just get some regardless and use it for a few weeks anyway. But thanks for your advice and guideance.... Only quick question i have is do u know the name of the creams at chemists plese?

There are a lot of different ones, and trade names vary according to which country you are in. There's a list of official names at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antifungal_medication and if you look up each official name you'll find a list of trade names. But they should all be together in the same section at the chemists. There's no shame in asking for a general antifungal.
