Hi Guys!! IF you believe that prostitution should remain a crime - I'd LOVE to hear your arguments. I think that two ADULTS should have the right to exchange money for sex - if THAT is what THEY want to do. And that no OTHER adult has any right to stick his or her nose into that exchange. [in other words - they should BUTT OUT]If you disagree - PLEASE let me know WHY. GREAT BIG HUGCraig!!

Prostitution - make it LEGAL?
-
In reply to:

i believe society should have some morals
but its agaisnt ppls free wills to do so?
yep. hence the degradation of society. -
-
ok who really cares what goes on in the bedroom, if a girl(or guy..) wants to sell sex why shouldnt they. its not hurting anyone and as long as they get checked for deseases and stuff then it should be fine
-
I figure it would eliminate the street hookers if we could regulate it, such as they do in Nevada.
-
Hi DesertFoxAZ!! Sorry about that. Didn't mean to ignore what you had already said. I would make it legal - for ADULTS - and focus all of the attention on helping those who are underaged and 'at risk' and those who are underaged and already on the streets. As far as the morality argument is concerned - that really doesn't hold much water - with me. A group in Canada had insisted that prisons no longer permit cigarettes and condoms - for the same 'moral' reasons. But we're not talking about morality - we're talking about RE-ality!! GREAT BIG HUGCraig!!
-
reality is that society is losing moralsjust yesterday i was told in college biology class that we should learn from the chimps that its ok to be homosexual and be promiscuis, cause they do it. its totally fine! they also go around on random killing sprees, and they dont have a guilty concious, so why should we?exactly what he said.of course u can say "moral argument doesnt hold water with me". but it might with someone else. its totally opinionated
-
Hi Cool!! You are NOT trying to suggest that because I'm in favour of legalizing ADULT prostitution that I'm ALSO in favour of people partaking in murder sprees? ARE YOU?! You're right - "moral argument doesnt hold water with me" IS an opinion. And you're also right that we each have a right TO our opinions. But once a person takes his or her OPINION and moves on to the next stage by FORCING his or her opinion ON some other person [by making certain things illegal] then it's no longer merely an opinion. Now were talking about one person controlling another person. [or at least trying to] So should I assume then - that YOU believe that other people should be punished for what YOU believe is wrong. [or 'moral'] Is that true? [and were talking specifically about ADULT prostitution - in this case] GREAT BIG HUGCraig!!
-
Your biology teacher has a screw loose, I think. People aren't going to learn much from chimps, except how to act like chimps. And I've never heard of chimps being prostitutes either.
-
In reply to:

Well then... DesertFoxAZ... you would be surprised by what some of them chimp's will do for a bunch of banana's.
GREAT BIG HUG
Craig!! -
hello craig In reply to: You are NOT trying to suggest that because I'm in favour of legalizing ADULT prostitution that I'm ALSO in favour of people partaking in murder sprees? ARE YOU?! did i say that? and no need to yell at me... sheessh In reply to: But once a person takes his or her OPINION and moves on to the next stage by FORCING his or her opinion ON some other person [by making certain things illegal] then it's no longer merely an opinion. Now were talking about one person controlling another person. [or at least trying to] read what you've just said ^^^. going by that, there can't be any laws in society, because some people will want to break them because they want to. just to bring up a few topics that are identical (in the way that there is very mixed opinions):-underage drinking-illicit drugs-cars being defected by nazi cops (Grrr)but i know what you're saying, that there is obvious 'wrongs' and 'rights' and you're dabbling in a more 'borderline' topic but understand that going by your quoted above logic, you're saying that we [society] can't have any laws on anything.my point here is that society HAS to deem some things as wrong, and take away a persons free will to do something to try to control them. e.g. "I want to be able to go to school with my semi automatic rifle and shoot all my teachers and classmates." society does punish people like that...WHEREVER you draw the line, whether it be prostitution, drugs, whatever, people will complain.c'mon we've all been through this before;Kid A: "would you kiss miss ugly over ther for a million dollars?"Kid B:"yes"Kid A:"for $1000?"Kid B:"...yes, no less!"Kid A:"so you wouldnt for $999?"Kid B:".......ok but no less!"Kid A:"what bout $990?"its very hard to draw the distinct line and i'm pretty sure thats what you're trying to dance down atm In reply to: So should I assume then - that YOU believe that other people should be punished for what YOU believe is wrong. [or 'moral'] Is that true? punished no. people choose what they want to do. people do things i dont agree with you, -such is life. In reply to: Your biology teacher has a screw loose, I think. his ways of thinking is a bit nutty. he has said that the only reason that we are at college is because our reproduction organs have forced us to come to make us more appealing to the opposite sex (with a degree). he said "you may think that your brain made that decision, but it wasn't, it was these guys [points at crotch]!!" rolls eyes whatever mate In reply to: You're right - "moral argument doesnt hold water with me" IS an opinion so what other argument would people have against prositution???and IF morality is the only argument, (which you state IS totally an opinion), -then does not that answer your original question "If you disagree - PLEASE let me know WHY"?
-
Hi Cool!! First off - when I use CAPS I'm not yelling - I'm merely giving a little extra punch to the key words. [but I'll try to avoid them - this time!!]I'm a little bit confused - I have to admit - by what you're saying. I'm arguing in favour of something that involves two adult individuals. An adult is willing to pay another adult for sex. I'm not sure how that could be considered the same as the three examples you gave. [namely - underaged drinking, illicit drugs and cars being defected by nazi cops] The first one has to do with those who are not adults, the second one has a lot to do with the destruction of human beings and the third has to do with a violation of personal privacy. I specifically emphasized 'adults' in my arguments. Those who are underaged must be protected by society. I would [along with legalizing adult prostitution] change the laws against those who take advantage of the underaged so they would become significantly more severe. I'm certainly not against there being laws. I'm merely against the idea of laws that serve no purpose other than to allow the police [and other 'authority figures'] to stick their collective noses into the private lives of fully grown adults. Not too long ago - two men were engaging in oral sex in the privacy of their own bedroom. [somewhere in Texas - I believe] The police came into the home [for some other unrelated reason] and witnessed what was going on. Both men were immediately arrested and charged with breaking the law [that was in place at the time - and perhaps still is] that made engaging in homosexual sex [in Texas] a crime. To me - that was ridiculous. And served society no purpose whatsoever. The same - I believe - is true insofar as prostitution is concerned. I'd like to ask you something more directly - if I could. Imagine - if you will - John and Mary. John doesn't know Mary but would like to have sex with her. Mary is OK with that - but insists that he pay her some money. Would you feel you have a right to step inbetween them and stop them from doing what they have already agreed to do? I'm tired - so hopefully all of this makes some sense!!GREAT BIG HUGCraig!!
-
good day sirsorry that my post is confusing. im tired too :Sthe only point of my examples was to show mixed opinions and that its always hard to draw a line on any topic, -because of wide diversity of ppl's opinionsre: mary and john; ppl have their own mind, desires, wishes, reasoning, etc, to do what they want.however, if i, like anyone else, were given the option to live in a world where everyone shared the same morals and values, i would.your post presented a question and the option i chose is something i would prefer in my little perfect world that is something of my desire, that will never come true.i'm sure you would like to live in a world where everyone shared your values
-
I don't mind it, but I don't want to see it on the streets. Legalizing is not going to get it off the streets. In fact I think it would temp more people to do it out in public. You have to advertise some place, and out on the streets seems to work best.

Hello all. I agree with Craig and am in favour of legalized prostitution, BUT that it has to involve adults, I would like to say that above all. Right now we have a horrible situation. The age of consent in Canada is 14 yrs. of age, from what I know-Disgusting!!! Most street prostitutes were sexually abused as children or abused in other forms. They are at risk for so many dangers, including murder....a sad reality in a lot of cities. I think that legalizing it and making it safer for all concerned would be a good thing. I also agree that the government should play less of a role in morality, safety yes, morality no. If something can hurt other people then that's another story. Like Amanda said, I DEFINITELY don't want to see it out on the streets and certainly DO NOT favour a system like Amsterdam. I don't want to see the pathetic creatures doing this job standing in a window like an animal at the zoo or like some kind of object!!!!!!! Nasty!!!!!While I think it should be legalized, I must admit I am pretty disgusted by the whole concept of doing that as a job. I won't go into details but ewwww!!! Peace.
-
it would get rid of the 'pimps', which is always good...
-
It's disturbing when they are making the deal on a corner with trashy clothing. They don't go to a hotel, they'll do it in the car in a residential area or parking lot. I don't mind prostitution, but just keep it off the streets. Use a phone service to get customers or set up a store with a group of women and guys that can be bought.

Has anybody seen the movie "Pretty Baby" with Brooke Shields, Susan Sarandon and Keith Carradine? It's about prostitues (Shields is 14 and a child prostitute and has several nude scenes). A little shocking to think that child prostitution was allowed back in the day. I can't imagine that they'd get away with releasing a movie like that these days, but Paramount did then. I can't recall what year it was released.Legalized prostitution would be for adults. I don't think they'll allow minors to participate, one side or the other, in places like Nevada where it is legal and regulated.Just out of curiosity I did some research about what it would cost to see a prostitute in Nevada. It's really expensive! Several hundred dollars. I guess street hookers are cheaper, but it's dangerous and illegal. I guess the regulated sort is likely to cost a bit more.

It still won't decrease the number of rapes among women. And someone somewhere will prostitute themselves illegally.People suck.
-
In reply to:It still won't decrease the number of rapes among women. And someone somewhere will prostitute themselves illegally.Hi FlawedPerfection!! You're right. But that in of itself isn't an argument against legalizing ADULT prostitution. Even your own nickname reveals the simple truth that nothing is perfect. But by re-directing the responsiblites of law-enforcement to KEEPING kids from ever becoming prostitutes - legalizing adult prostitution might actually have a positive effect. And isn't that worth it? And If an adult wants to offer his or her body sexually to another adult for money - isn't that their business? One of the responsibilities of being an adult is being responsible for your OWN decisions? How dare some other adult interfer with those decisions. GREAT BIG HUGCraig!!
