I find this a very interesting topic. I can't decide what my opinion is on it though as both sides have fair arguments.
I really don't understand why it's illegal in the first place. If someone is willing to prositute themselves they will do it anyway possible - illegal or not, they'll still find a way to do it. So the law itself isn't helping much anyway, and it probably never can.
Although, at the same time, I personally believe prostitution being illegal can prevent things from occuring. For example - a woman might think of prostituting herself because she needs the cash but since it's illegal she may feel intimidated to do so. And maybe by holding back from doing so, she'll have prevented herself from getting an STD she might have recieved otherwise.
But then again, seeing how popular prostitution is shows us that not many are intimidated by it's illegalization.
