I was reading information about Paragard and I'm wondering if there are any other non-hormonal birth control methods that are just as protective ,but are more appealing (where risks and side effects concerned)? Has anyone used any or are currently using non-hormonal methods (I'm not talking about condoms and such)?

I found this link (http://www.youngwomenshealth.org/prosandcons.html) and the only options that appeals to me is the tubal litigation, but it's permanent. I not 100% sure my opinion on birthing my own children will change. I'm highly considering freezing my eggs and using a surrogate (but I haven't done research and I don't know what the cost are, expensive I assume) or adoption.I don't want any of the possible side effects from those other methods. Ladies how do you reconcile the possibility of those side effects?? What goes through your mind when you read about the risks?

most Drs won't steralize a young woman w/o a very good reason

That's what I've read, but if I want it don't, get in done, and later regret it that's MY fault. I don't get why they doctors are so against it. I know society is all pro-creation and most people don't understand why some people wouldn't want children or don't want to take birth control or any other things labeled "normal". I just don't get why, it's MY choice, MY regret (if that's what happens), they shouldn't be at fault.
I'll be 30 soon. I'd rather freeze my eggs and let someone else give birth or adopt, but I don't think I'm even cut out to be a parent. I don't have the right temperament for it.

the freezing of your eggs is problomatic there is no gaurentee(sp) that the eggs will survive, and it could be expensive, most likley from the surgery to retrive your eggs and then the tests, ond storage fees

I just assumed it was as easy to freeze eggs as it is to freeze sperm, or however they preserve sperm in sperm banks.

Double post

No, eggs are bigger and therefore harder to freeze without damage.

Ohhhhhh.... I wish eggs were smaller.

Does anyone know of someone that's used a surrogate, or have been a surrogate or used one themselves?

Asurrogate w/b somewhat $$ w/Dr. visits Hosp chargs. Fees Ect, pus $ for the Surrogate they don't rent their uterus 4 free I'm thinking 20,000.00 or more, and even through it's your "baby" u still have to adpot him/her to b legal more $$

I know it's expensive. I wanted to hear from someone that if familiar with the process. I wanted to learn first hand, because other than the process being expensive, there's not much else I know about it.I've been looking into. I don't want to experience childbirth at all. If I ever decided to have kids I will most likely adopt. I was researching a little while back and found something about insurance that surrogates use or the parents use for the surrogates. I can't really remember what it was exactly.

Has anyone used the female condom? My biggest worry is that it can slip into the vagina. If it slips, how will I get it out? Wouldn't I have to go to a doctor? It can't be used with a male condom. I'm terrified that somehow I will get pregnant when trying to remove it. Other non-hormonal methods were appealing, but I'm afraid I'll have trouble inserting them or I'll be allergic to the spermicide that I have to use with them (cervical cap)or that is inside them (the sponge). I don't know how in the world I'd maneuver my finger(s) inside my vagina to remove them. I can't even get tampons in the right position most of the time. It's hopeless.
