I am 17 (male) Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, uncircumcised and I am concerned about how I masturbate. How I "masturbate" is, I will face down on my bed, and with my left hand I will face my penis down and then rub my penis up and down (it's hard trying to put this into word) until I ejaculate. The reason why I am concerned is because I came across something called "Prone" masturbation which can cause something called "TMS". I'm starting to get nervous and considering changing my technique. I also ordered a hip onahole (a rubber vagina/ass) so that can get me to change my technique. But is this a good way to masturbate? I'v been doing this technique for a very long time and I don't know how much damage I may have done.

Am I masturbating wrong?

Welcome to A2A, gilgamesh_taco.
This business of 'prone' masturbation leading to 'Traumatic Masturbatory Syndrome' seems nonsense to me. It seems to be based on one paper in the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy in 1998, and that paper was based on only four case studies. The author has written nothing more on it (and only a few scattered papers on other topics), and nobody else has written on it that I can find in the entire medical literature. One website took it up with gusto, and since then it has made its way to a lot of other sites, but it seems to be rubbish.

Hello, I used to prone masturbate too. I've never really understand why I didn't do it "normally". Maybe because I haven't privacy to do it "normally" since I was a child, so maybe I "adapted" by doing it in bed, or I found rubbing against a solid resistance (the mattress, nothing hard of course, it would have hurt me) more likeable, and still would like to do. Maybe it was because I also sleep prone, I don't know.
When I find out months ago on this site healthystrokes.com that it was said to be unhealthy I cringed somewhat, as stupid as it can sound. I just found out that what I've had done since I was a child until then could be "dangerous", and I already had troubled feelings with masturbation generally (being raised in a pretty religious conservative household I was told it is wrong to masturbate), so this news crushed my "confidence" in this practice.
I really felt bad and feared of having hurt myself. I mean why couldn't I masturbate like all others do without complications, or not at all?
I don't know if this site is actually reliable but it states that prone masturbating puts excessive pressure on the penis, and considering that this condition isn't replaced in sex you can have problems being stimulated by a real vagina/woman, because the latter rarely puts so much pressure on the male member. This site so encourage males to masturbate in what it defines the "classical method", with hands strokes (less pressure). It also states that you could have problems having orgasms normally if not prone, that however I've at least tested for me that isn't true. I indeed, even if preferred to rub in the mattress, could also orgasm "normally", when I wanted without problems, but that's me. I couldn't experiment during sex because I'm a virgin. That site also show some graphics pointing out how prone masturbators had more problems with erections quality and sex. I don't know where those datas were taken and if they were true anyway.I don't know what to think really, I just stopped prone masturbating to be safe. I was somewhat concerned by what I found, but probably there aren't medical studies behind.
