I know there is a true story about HSV single.
Thomas Schumann, infected herpes in 2012, single, 33 years old, male, lived in San Diego, CA.
He had oral sex when his ex-boyfriend got a cold sore on his lips, after drinking a bottle of wine together. But it is too late when he yelling “Oh my god. You have cold sore(HSV1) and you just went down on me!” A small blister appeared on his penis two days later, and then he went to doctor and get diagnosed HSV2-genital herpes. He was heartbroken, because sex life which had been characterized by spontaneity and adventurousness is so important for him. He is limited to condom covered; he says “No chump was willing to expose him to the risk of my contaminated penis.”
One day, a friend told him he also had herpes which gotten in the exact same way and that it had been the end of sex life by no means. That is a turning point, because that conversation comforted him and made him realized that genital herpes is affecting 20% adult population of United States, he is not alone. “I am not unclear or a horrible person, I am just someone who with a relatively harmless virus.” He said.
Over the years, he disclosed his herpes to a few new friends, including the person he is dating now. Fortunately, no one has reacted badly, because everyone wanted more information. He and his partner are making efforts to avoid transmission, even if they know there is a small probability to get it. But it is not a big deal anyway, for most people, it is not.
So that is Thomas Schumann’s story. I hope that people who don’t have or they think they haven’t will stop to say negative thing about HSV2 and other STDs. Herpes is happening and affecting a lot of people, and shouldn’t be nearly as big a deal as it is.

I have edited out the advertising part. :)
I also should note that HSV-1 and HSV-2 are different strains of virus. One prefers the mouth and the other prefers the genitals, but they can infect the other area, though usually less virulently. The HSV-1 strain doesn't turn into HSV-2 by going to the penis.
If ordinary HSV-1 cold sores get transferred to the genitals, they will cause a herpes outbreak, but usually not a bad one: outbreaks after the first are usually weak and infrequent. However if the cold sores are due to HSV-2, then if it gets transferred to genitals the infection is likely to be strong; and I have heard that perhaps as many as 30% of cold sores in the US now are HSV-2.
