These days I noticed myself on the mirror. I have become a little fatty due to my continuous intake of fast foods. My tummy is getting bigger and it looks bad while wearing party wears. My sister told me that it is due to the intake of fast food and also due to the continuous sitting in office. What should I do? Do I need to start exercises? Or need to control my diet?

Putting on weight seems to be pretty much a matter of how many calories we take in versus how many we burn up. If we take in more than we burn up, we put on weight. If we burn up more than we take in, we lose weight.
Putting on weight as we get older happens because as we get older we burn fewer calories: partly because our body metabolism slows, and partly because we tend to run around less and sit around more. If we eat as much as before, it's now more than we need, and weight gain ensues.
Exercise can of course help. But if exercising leads you to eat more, it won't help. It in fact takes a lot of extra exercise to use the calories of a small amount of food--our body metabolism, keeping our bodies warmer than the outside temperature, takes most calories. So diet control is essential.
Essentially, you have to eat fewer calories than you want. That is not easy, and all the diet plans, most of them not very effective, are aiming for this. You have to find what works for you, and stick with it. Going on a crash diet, then going back to normal, doesn't usually work, as you just go back to where you were before. You have to find something you can do permanently.

I'm gaining weight too after quitting smoking. Of course, it's a stress and I eat much more sweets now. That's why I started vaping. Considered it a healthier alternative to smoking. Read an article on Vapingdaily about gaining weight after quitting smoking. An author is a man who was a heavy smoker for 25 years. That inspired me. If he managed to do that. Why can't I? So I'm on my way on quitting vaping soon too, but still, it helps me now. Now I'm thinking about a dietician. Maybe a professional can help me eat healthy and balanced food. I usually need someone to control me.

You need to look at your medical condition. If you are sure you need it, train, watch your diet. It's all a measure of your health. Our weight is muscle, fat, and water.
