Hi, My grandma was injured in a car accident. She lives in Ottawa. It has been a week since she got hospitalized. Today I went to an agency of personal injury lawyers. I was palnning to file a claim against the insurance company with a pro assistance. The lawyer was a genuine person and said there are no payments unless we win the claim. But I've read somewhere that there is no need of a lawyer when our liability is clear. I'm running on a tight budget due to the hospital and medicine expense, I can save money when I file a claim without a lawyer. Grandma has a fracture on her right arm and a crack on head, and she will be coming home by this week from the hospital. So I guess, I can move things to claim the insurance on my own. But I'm not sure about the formalities. Moreover, is it possible to do things on my own to win a personal injury claim?
I'd be grateful for your thoughts about this - especially if you are an existing lawyer or an experienced client.
Many thanks in advance.

Is it OK to file a claim on my own when I'm financially down?!

@LostDude It's unclear from your post if the action you are thinking about is against your own insurance company or the other driver. If you are filing against your company, that is probably not necessary to get an attorney involved unless the offer made to you is not to your liking. If you intend action against another driver and his/her insurance company, you may need to get an attorney involved.
I would start with my own insurance agent.

@readytogo I'm going to sue my own insurance company. The opposite driver's part is clear. he is ready to pay us the compensation. Thanks for your clear-cut reply!!
Have a nice day dude!
