ONE TESTICLE
-
You'll be perfectly fine
-
Men have two testicles for that reason - just in case one goes missing, the other can still produce sperm and testosterone. The pituitary gland also produces small amounts of testosterone. Ask a doc he'll confirm this.
-
if you dont mind me asking could you explain what happened to you in a bit more detial? and how you discovered the problem and what symptoms you had?
-
You should be fine. The capacity of each testicle to produce testosterone is MUCH greater than our bodies could possibly use. The pituitary gland at the base of the brain acts a governor controlling the level of testosterone in our blood, and sends signals to the testicles to produce more or less as needed to maintain the testosterone level. So your remaining testicle is releasing twice as much testosterone than it was before when you had two testicles, but even at double the production, that remaining testicle has the capacity to produce say, 10 times what your body needs. So no problem there.
Same goes for sperm production. While sperm counts may be a bit lower with one testicle versus two, one testicle can still easily produce enough sperm to be considered fertile.
Look at Lance Armstrong for proof: he had one testicle removed due to cancer, and yet he clearly has no problems with low testosterone given his incredible athletic ability and endurance, and he's also fathered children with one testicle without any fertility drugs.
That's why we have two! If we lose one, we're still good to go. -
well i woke up one morning from the unbelievable pain on my left testicle and it was really swollen and red. went to the hospital and told them and they said something about my kidneys. so they didnt even look at my testicles. the pain still lasted for two more days so i went again and they told me i needed emergency surgery because the vein that attaches the testicle to something there was twisted and no circulation was passing by so the testicle was basically dead. that was what happened
-
What a bunch of idiots. That's called testicular torsion and is an emergency. The testicle needs to be untwisted or it will die from lack of blood flow as it did for you. I can't believe they never checked it out. Whoever treated you was incompetent. I would make a bid stink over this.
-
yea thats exactly wat it was a testicular torsion..im about to SUE cuz thats not right having one testicle for them not checking
-
Also SDP do u kno wat is the cause of a TESTICULAR TORSION? because i still am tryin to figure out how that happened because i didnt get hit in my testicles or anything. and i did have sex but nothing unusual. and its not like i had pain for a long time, it just happened suddenly cuz i went to sleep fine and woke up with the worst pain of my life
-
If I understand it right torsions happen when the spermatic cording gets twisted and cuts off blood supply. I don't think you have to do anything in particular to have it happen and usually a "blunt force" injury doesn't result in torsion. Let us know how things turn out with your contacting a lawyer, it does seem obvious with your symptoms that would have been the first thing they checked for...your kidneys? WOW, that didn't make sense to me either.
-
just a little question on torsion, does wearing breifs help protect you from it?
-
i wear boxers cuz i cant stand briefs and i dont think it really has anything to do with it...i might be wrong
-
Yeah, I don't think boxers caused it, but they didn't help either. Briefs do keep the testicles from moving around, where the boxers don't.
-
well sadly i can speak in experiance but they saved my ball but i had INTERMITENT torsion wich sucked ass because my balls had stage fright or something cause it would be fine when the doc was looking at it it took me 2 and 1/2 weeks to get opperated on it sucks and it is the worst pain in my whole life im also 15 ive severly broken my arm had a double hernia neither of which nearly as bad as testicular torsion
-
Did you see a doctor right away when you first felt pain? This happened to me and I saw an emergency room doctor right away. He sent me home without running any tests to figure out that I had a torsion. I lost the testicle, found out it was twisted and sued him and the hospital. I won $250,000.00 - because he failed to treat the problem when I presented myself to him in the emergency room. Torsion is considered the only emergency in Urology.
-
Wow.. You wonder about these doctors nowadays.. I'm sure there are are many wonderful doctors, but it seems some shouldn't even be allowed to practice. In NYC's case, to not even examine the testicle is absolutely amazing.
-
You kno i really do wanna sue the doctor but the problem is that the problem occured in a foreign country and now im back in the U.S. By the way the country is the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC and its not the most technologically advanced in the world but it still had a lot of the same machines and stuff from the hospitals here in NYC. but the doctors just amazed me and if you guys have any advice if and how i could take any further action, that will be greatly appreciated. by the way the surgery was less than a month ago on the 25th of august.
-
I agree with Focus' thread earlier. One testicle can product plenty of testosterone and sperm. No need to worry.
-
thats hella fucked that you sued the hospital if your dumd ass would think about it that 250 grand could go towards hireing doctors and the doctor not seeing it well thats hard to tell the way you explain the way that your balls hurt it doesnt even match th symptoms of testicula tosion
-
What are you talking about? The guy who sued didn't even say what his syptoms were. Plus, why shouldn't he get some compensation for a screw-up.
