When the British invented radar during the Second World War, it made their fighters much more effective, especially at night. They wanted to keep radar a secret, so they spread a story that they were feeding the pilots lots of carrots and that gave them very good night vision. A lot of people believed the story. In reply to:When the British invented radar during the Second World War, it made their fighters much more effective, especially at night.
