Well it's been nearly a month now and I've had no improvement so far with my phimosis. I've been using the cream 2-3 times a day. I'm really worried I might have to have circumcision - I've heard lots of stories about this hurts lots. Is the procedure really painful? And have any of you had this done in the UK or in your late teens?I'm getting really depressed about it. Everyday going to the toilet and being unable to pull the foreskin back, everday when I get an erection it feels really tight! - I'm sick of it. I want to be able to do the normal simple things. And if I do need circumcision how am I supposed to tell my parents? They don't even know I have phimosis...Help

For a circumcision at your age they use a local anaesthetic so the procedure itself shouldn't hurt much, though it will be very sore for some time while it heals. There are alternatives to circumcision, like a dorsal slit, that you might consider. You got the cream from your doctor, didn't you? I'd make an appointment to see him again, and discuss options. If your parents need to be told anything, perhaps the doctor could tell them (with your permission), or write a note you could give them.

I would actually like to have circumcision to be honest. I'm sick of all this hassle everyday of stretching and putting cream on and ending up with no results... I admit I'm impatient. But that's probably because I put off going to see the doctor for a year and only just started doing something about and I am expecting instant results already. So the question is, does it really take 3 or so months to cure phimosis? if it does I will continue. Reason for my doubt is I just feel it's taking too long, if you know what I mean.

Yes, it can easily take 3 months for the creams and stretching to work. Its a steroidal cream you got from the doctor, right? Be patient, and give it time to work. 3 months in the whole scheme of things is nothing, when you consider that if it works, you will have a functioning foreskin that will give you tons of pleasure the rest of your life. Trust me, when you look back on these 3 months later in life, you will laugh at yourself as to why you were complaining that it was taking so long. Even if the cream and stretching doesn't work 3 months from now, I would explore your next option, which is a dorsal slit. These usually work quite well with most cases of phimosis, and will allow you to keep your foreskin. Circumcision should be a last option. You're done exploring all your options yet. So hang in there and be patient!
