I think we can expect a pretty lively and aggressive debate. If you recall, the Lieberman/Cheney debate last election was considerably more animated than any of the Bush/Gore debates.

VP debates at 9pm ET

 Yeah, "lively" might not have been the best word to describe the Cheney/Lieberman debate, but it was bettter than the Bush/Gore sleepers.
-
well it better not get too lively or Cheney will not make it through.
-
lol. True.

Oh, trust me, Cheney will deliver an incredible speech. He always does. I've never seen Cheney make a fool of himself, and I doubt Edwards will get to make ONE good point compared to Cheney's speech. We'll see tonight, I suppose.
-
I believe he was referring to Cheney's health problems, not his debating skills.
-
 Hehehehe......sorry.
-
yeah poor guy has a bad heart, but i have too admit he is a good speaker. So is Edwards. It depends on audience, setting, and over all how they feel.
-
I plan on watching them.

Here’s my take on the VP debates, hot on the heels of the action 1. The debate was clearly more educational than the prez debates. We heard fewer stupid jingles, and we heard more facts and more details on each of the candidate’s policies.2. Although the debate started off very strong, it waned in strength as it progressed. I suspect that the candidates became tired after the strong and fiery opening rounds.3. Edwards took an early lead, but made some mistakes in the mid to late stages of the debate. For instance, Edwards should not have brought up Cheney’s daughter; it made him look sleazy. 4. Cheney knew his facts, and although Cheney’s presentation was often monotone, he provided intelligent commentary. On the other hand, Edward also knew his facts, and proved himself more charismatic than the VP. 5. In the end, Edwards came out stronger. Cheney often directly avoided questions (including the question about the deficits), and often failed to provide adequate rebuttals to some strong criticism on domestic/economic issues. On the other hand, Edwards may alienate voters by appearing ingenuine or "silver-tongued."

Let me add one more thing: Edwards also came out stronger on foreign policy. He closed some gaps left by Kerry, and offered some poignant criticism of this administrations policies in not only Iraq, but also in Iran, N. Korea, and even Afghanistan (although he was slightly weaker in Afghanistan). This is the primary reason why I think that Edwards was able to take an "early lead." The domestic/economic issues are why I believe he was able to convert his early lead into an overall victory.OK—that’ll be the end of my boring commentary for the night.

Alright, sorry to bump this thread, but I've got one more little tidbit about the VP debates. The website Cheney plugged last night, FactCheck.com, should have actually been "FactCheck.org." I urge anyone seriously interested in the facts to take a quick look at www.FactCheck.org . Don't bother with FactCheck.com; it's George Soros' purely partisan site. edit: Judging from the last couple of posts, people are probably getting the impression that I really like talking to myself. It's just me responding to me. And yes, this officially makes me a total dork.

Funny how Cheney is able to debate at such a high intellectual level but messes up with something as simple as ".org" and ".com"
