I just turned 15 and was reading the info. on testicular self exam, and I read a part that said "your breast may enlarge and feel tender" was something to look out for. Well a couple of weeks ago, maybe longer, the area around my niple became swollen and redish pink. When I touched it, it felt weird. I just checked my balls and couldn't find any bumps, and haven't really noticed an increase in their size. Do I need to see a doctor? b/c at this age it is really one of those things you dont like to discuss with other people.

Breast enlargement and sensitive/irritated nipples are common during puberty, and is nothing to worry about. It's caused by the sudden increase in hormones in your body, not just testosterone, but also estrogen, and a bunch of others. Yes, guys have small amounts of estrogen (the female sex hormone) in their bodies, which also increases during puberty. As you probably know, things don't always develop at the same rate in puberty causing things to be a little weird for a while. One of these is sometimes the increase in estrogen is more rapid than the increase in testosterone, and that leads to temporary breast and nipple swelling, sensitivity, or irritation. This almost always disappears as you progress through puberty. So this is just a temporary thing, and nothing to worry about. As long as you don't have any lumps on the surface of your testicles, then you don't have testicular cancer. It's great that you learned about TSE's, and are doing them on a regular basis. Keep up the good work - it could save your life.
