Ok heres the break down.. Aunt has lung cancer.. She had a Bitopsy (SP?) or what ever it is.. Says its in her right lung moving to her left. Its not operterable(SP?) She is going to see someone about Kemo/Radation. Will kemo or radation work? How long does she have? Week? Month? Year?

Lung Cancer.. need some information

Sometimes chemo/radiation works, and sometimes it doesn't. It just depends on how far along the cancer is and lots of luck a lot of the time. You really can't put a "what if" or "how long" on it. You just have to hope for the best. It's something you really don't have control over.

Lung cancer is slow growing. That means you don't know you have it until it has already spread a lot. It also means that chemotherapy and radiation therapy don't work very well. :frowning: Unfortunately months or a few years is most likely. :frowning:

Ok.. Thought I'd update you all in this situation... Lung cancer is in one lung.. moving to other.. Cancer spread to her brain.. She has lesions (SP?) on her brain.. and today she collapsed and is currently as hospital.. Right now.. My dad is preparing for a trip up there in the next couple of hours ( its a 600 mile drive ) .. So he will be out of here tonight.. for probably atleast the weekend... I'm sorry if i dont sound so 'upset' and 'sad' like i should.. I dont really care for her.. She is on my hate list... So I'm not all in tears over it... That whole side of the family ( Dad's ) basicly forgot my B-Day.. cause of all this.. He had to call them ( Wish he hadn't of done it )and tell them to call me.. I dont really care.. There my least favorite side of the family anyways.. I like my moms side So.. There is a little update for anyone wondering...

Don't feel you have to feel any particular way, FaBMX. In real life people don't behave they way they do in the movies. Even for very close people, it's very common to feel numb, to feel nothing at all.She probably doesn't have long to go.

My grandpa has lung cancer. It's collapsed one lung, wrapped itself around his aorta, is in the other lung and has moved to his brain. The doctors told us that it's only a matter of time now and that when you've had something like lung cancer that has spread to your brain the prognosis is never really good. I hope that's not the case with your aunt.

I thought i would respond to your thread. Tomotherapy may be a feasable option. A good resource for information on tomotherapy is www.cancerhope.com. I would use the ask the expert section to get accurate answers to your questions.

I have lung cancer and am doing good. Thanks to the Man upstairs, good doctors and good meds. There is hope. I also am happy I do not have relatives who worry more about their birthdays than about a loved one's cancer.

I'm happy to hear that the docs think she is up to radiation. My dad has lung cancer and is too weak for surgery and cannot tolerate radiation. Docs said there is nothing they can do except sedate him until the end. When docs are suggesting a treatment, there's always hope. God bless both of you.
