So i've been wondering for a while, i havn't gone on the pill yet because there's one question i want to ask. When you're on the pill, and you've done the first week of using extra backup safety(i.e condoms, foam). is it safe for the guy to come inside you? (not including STD's). what are the chances of getting pregnant?!

Got the pill, need no condom?
-
After the grace period, it's 99%. You have to take the pil everyday on time.
-
Depending on the pill, it may require a full cycle (pack) of pills before it's completely effective. Your doctor will be able to tell you. It says for sure on the insert as well. But yeah, if you take it correctly, don't miss pills, and take it about the same time everyday, it'll be over 99% effective and you won't get pregnant.

I was told by my doctor that you need to wait a month before going without the condoms.Otherwise it's not fully in your system yet and you can get preg bc of that.
-
The accuracy for B.C. when used typically as in missig a pill or not taking it at the same time is about 95%.
-
My wifes doctor said a month.. others say a week. It may depend on the brand too.
-
I thought they were all over 99%... That's what all the doctors have told me.
-
I think she meant, that "typical use"... which means that people often miss a pill and or do not take it at the same time... lowers the effective rate to 95%. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/bc/bcfacts2.html
-
It does depend on the brand. Every brand that I have been on I've only had to wait a week, never a month.

Ah, now that means more sense, SDP. I really doubt many people actually take them about the same time everyday. I've never actually had a doctor tell me that!!! I just read it in the little pamphlet that comes with them. In fact, I think more doctors, nurses, etc. need to discuss birth control pills with people. They also fail to tell people sometimes that certain medicines (anti-infectives, antibiotics, etc.) can decrease effectiveness of the pills as well. Damn doctors! LOL

It really is much safer, whether your girl is reliable or not, to ALWAYS wear a (fresh) rubber.

ive been having sex with the pill for 2 years. dont worry. i have not gotten pregnant yet. it is best though, in my opinion, to use some kind of back up during and after your period. just incase. some birth control methods dont have any protection during the week ofyour period. i just do that to be safe.
