Is chewing ice a good source for dental hygiene? When you think about it, they make those chew bones for dogs so it cleans their teeth. Can ice serve the same purpose for humans?

Ice n' Dental Hygiene
-
Chewing ice can be bad for the teeth and is a chocking hazard.
-
how is it bad for the teeth? too hard?
-
yes, it's the same as chewing on hard candy
-
Yeah, I guess you have a point. I was thinking that maybe chewing ice would help remove food and other things from the molars or somethin.
-
try floss...or that invention they call the tooth brush
-
Too expensive and time consuming. Naw, I brush after meals and everything, but I chew a lot of ice too.
-
well there's the good ole' toothpick...available at fine retailers such as IHOP and Shoney's.
-
I doubt ice has the capacity to reach between teeth, and under gums where most food gets stuck.
-
So the dental bone for dogs is a gimmick
-
no it's not, there's a big difference between a dog dental bone and ice
-
Next time I go to the store I'ma buy me a dental bone to chew on.
-
Try the chicken flavored one...my dog loves those.
-
what?! ice is water. so is water bad for iron levels? or does it have to do with the temperature?
-
maybe it flushes it out or something
-
that would mean drinking water reduces iron levels.... this belongs in mythbusters a2a thread
-
oh, i get it. i've been taking multivitamin to prevent iron deficiency though. Doctor's orders.
-
Ice is definitely bad for your teeth! You know how most people have sorta sharp canines? Mine are ground down almost even with my molars. (I have an extreme oral fixation.)
-
The iron deficiency is true. Some bottled and tap water can actually remove nutrients from your body, iron being one of them.
