Has anyone here seen the Body Worlds exhibit by Gunther von Hagens? I'm going to LA to see it today. It's basically dead people who have been preserved using plastination. The bodies are disassembled so you can see the various aspects of the human anatomy. It's exciting in a creepy kind of way. If you are really squeamish, then don't click on the link below.http://www.bodyworlds.com/en/pages/home.asp

That's an understatement. My sex life is the shits. But anyways...Yeah, the Body Worlds exhibit is pretty incredible. First off... 95% of the bodys are not protected by glass or behind any protective barriers. It's right there in front of you on the floor. You can get up as close as you wish and from any angle front, side or back. It is creepy at times. I mean literally you can look into the face of this person and it gives you the creeps. The bodies are disected it all sorts of manners. There are cut outs, things removed, peeled back in ways that let you see the various aspects of what went where. There are displays with an exploded view of the body. There are displays of just the skeleton, of just the muscles, of just the nervous system, of just the blood system. They are separated to highlight the individual feature of the body. All of the organs are also separately displayed in glass cases showing both healthy and unhealthy systems (like cancer, tumors, ulcers, emphysema(sp), arteoslerosis) It's just amazing.. Those who smoke.... You should see what's in your lungs right now. One amazing view was just of your blood vessels. Somehow they filled the blood vessels with this red solution which hardens.. then though various methods, they dissolve and remove everything else. What is left is a 3-D mesh of your blood system of your outer skin and inner organs. One of my favorites was of a man, skin and all, sliced into 5-6 sections from front to back. However, it wasn't sliced stright through, rather sections were separated. For example, the brain wasn't sliced, although the skull was, the internal organs were kept together and kept with one slice, while the other slice showed the cavity. Just amazing. How about a mother with a 8 month fetus shown inside her. Sad but incredible. The last part of the display showed about 15 bodies in various "artistic" or "sports" poses. The biggest one was of the rider on a huge horse (looked like a clydesdale) seen here: http://www.bodyworlds.com/en/pages/downloads.aspOverall a a very positive experience. Not for all. My 15 yr old son wasn't very comfortable with it, but my 12 yr old daughter was right up there peering into the bodies. If you live in So Cal, I would recommend seeing it as it's gone mid-January

I am so envious. I just can't see dragging my 8 moth old to see it and because she's breatfeeding I can't leave her for long enpugh to go, see, and get back. I live in Thousand Oaks, so it's about an hour and a half one way from here. :-( And we're moving to Arizona in a few wekks. Too bad for me. But I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Wholly crap! I’m so jealous. To the best of my knowledge, his exhibit hasn’t come to Canada. I’m pretty sure were not on the list of countries that banned the show.

If you do go, let me know what you think. I'd think you would have a special appreciation for it since you are a bodybuilder and all.

Excellent!

I want to see it! But I'm in Massachusetts. =(
