okay. i've had this weird deal going on between my legs which started monday. it started as a diaper rash like deal...very red and raw...nothing REALLY out of the ordinary...burns when i pee, only once it hits the skin. tonight when i got home i looked and it seems i have a sore that developed, looks like a cold sore..started out looking like an ingrown hair. it hurts most around my anus...hurts when i try and poop.i know i have to goto a doctor, i tried tonight...but that wait at the clinic and the hospital were too long.the thing is, my boyfriend doesn't have anything going on there...neither does my other lover...could it jsut be some random thing??
-
Little freaked out right now...any suggestions??
-
How could the wait be too long. lol You're still waiting to see the doctor even if you're not at the clinic. Anyway, I have never heard of anything like that. And of course it could be nothing. But you won't know until you see a doctor. Good Luck.
-
at the walk in, the wait was 2 hours...at the hospital, it was 3.5...i'll wait 'till monday and see my g.p
-
I realize this, I have kids you get stuck at the hospital ER FOREVER, cuz when your kid is sick you can't leave it til later. What I'm saying is you're waiting either way, whether you're at home or at the doctor's, might as well get something out of the wait.
-
I'm a little concerned that it sounds like herpes. You need to get checked out as soon as possible, because they will most likely take a culture of a sore to test for it.
-
Hospitals are for emergencies not for a sore between your legs or something like that. The reason the waits are soooo long is because people use the hospital like a doctors office.
-
Well if doctors were open better hours it would help. But they aren't so when you need a doctor you go where one is available.AND my doctor and who ever he uses for on call when he's not, will tell you to go to the ER if it's important. And I would say a strange sore anywhere would be important. I had a sore on my finger and waited until the next day and it was a mysterious puncture and had gotten a staph (spl)infection and got really nasty overnight. The ER sorts through the urgency of your needs so if it urgent you don't wait. My son stopped breathing, (Asthma we didn't know he had) and we were seen right away. We didn't sit or anything. Ran in said he's not breathing and they jumped.
-
Yeah, don't get me wrong. If it is important and depending on where you live and the services available, the you go if you need too. But The hospital ER is often abused for non-critical care too.
-
Well I don't know what the ERs look like in your area, but they are usually packed here. But I don't see it as a problem. Because it doesn't matter how many people are there if it's an emergency you'll be seen in the same amount of time if there are 50 people or 5 people. So why would I care if someone else is sitting there for 4 or 5 hours. It isn't affecting me. It's only affecting other people that are there with non-emergencies.

i live in a VERY small town. we are able to use the er for smaller medical reasons.i know it sounds like herpes...that's why i'm flipping out.but no one i've slept with in 3 years has it, or has slept with somone that does...i didn't think you could just get an s.t.d like this also, as of today, there is another sore on the other sid in the same place...and the entire ara is itching like crazy...what the hell is going on!? this is making me nuts
-
I don't think herpes is itchy. Are you sure you don't have some sort of yeast infection?
-
oh, yes, herpes can definitely be itchy! definitely! i've had it for over 20 years, so i know. as far as your partners "not having it".... they could have it and not know. they could be "carriers"....have it but don't get any sores or symptoms. or they could have hsv1 - "cold sores" on their mouth that nobody seems to worry about but can infect your genitals.
-
I'm feelin' for you honey. I had a zit on my cookie once and it scared the hell out of me. I can't imagine what you're going through. I think that Valtrex & Zovorax stuff will help keep it under control. Better to get on it early though. If that is in fact what it is. GO SEE THE DOCTOR!
-
well, saw a doc today.
she said because i had no vaginal discharge or other serious herpes symptoms it's most likley a skin infection du to tearing the anus opening during anal sex, which makes sence due to this coming on after intercourse.
i'm on a 7 day course of antibiotics...if it doesn't clear up i have to go back for possible testing...

Ask about getting an actual blood or "serum" test. She should have taken a culture from the sores right then and there. The blood test actually tells whether or not you have antibodies for the virus... I am sick of doctors "assuming" shit... That's how stuff gets misdiagnosed... By the time you go back your sores might have just went away because they did... Some people's outbreaks don't last that long... Grrr.... And yeah, Maggie's right. 1 in 5 people have herpes, most don't even know it because they have never actually had an outbreak or their symptoms are so minimal they don't notice or write it off as a yeast infection, an ingrown hair, etc., etc., etc. If you've ever had unprotected sex with people, especially if they've had sex unprotected sex with people other than you, you could very well have herpes. BTW, a lot of people have different "sores" who have herpes, some have lesions, some have bumps, some have slits or cuts or tears.
