.... Guitar is not a very difficult instrument to play and become fairly good at; try playing the asian Koto or the european viol...I'm not picking at guitar players (no pun intended); come on, I love Jimi Hendrix or Nirvana as much as the next man, but the guitar just isn't very difficult to play well (to master is very different, but then again, it is for everything).I'm a 'cellist and I guarantee you that it is harder to play than the guitar.

Guitar Players?
-
cellist ? huh wuts that?

My coworker showed me a site the other day where this guy had this strange 12-string instrument that he created. The music he was making was unbelievable. He was running it through a MIDI as well. For the life of me, I can't recall what it was called. I'll see if I can find out because it was really quite amazing. You don't pick the strings, you press on them and use both hands simultaneously. It makes playing the guitar or cello seem like kid's stuff.
-
A citar(sp?)? used mainly in India I think.
-
a person who plays the cello. Like a stand up bass, just smaller and it sits between the players legs
-
No, it was an electric instrument invented by an American. I'll ask my friend next time I see him.
-
Here it is:
There are some video clips telling about how it works and what it sounds like. You can play bass and rhythm simultaneously as this is a 10 or 12-string instrument. They aren't cheap but may actually be easier to play than a guitar.
This guys is pretty amazing: http://www.steveadelson.com/index.php?sec=music

I am pleased to say that i can now play Lynard Skynard's "Tuesdays Gone"
I started with intro and worked from there. I do not have calaces yet and my index finger is burning...lol, but the song sounds good.
-
lol yep...good ol' calaces(sp?) tell what sux even worse though, getting em, and then taking a shower, and picking them off.. then playing..ouch.
-
i am not sure if i will pick them off.
-
lol yeah you shouldn't. but it might happen if you do something with your hands after a fresh shower.
-
true. Yeah the caluces are taking sometime, but seeing as I played football, this is not very painful.
-
good deal...I see you have Kirk up as your image...is he your "idol"? or your playing style model? If not, do you have someone in mind?
-
James is my idol. I love that guy. He plays so awesome, and I mean I would give to have his voice.
-
I brought him back...He is so awesome.

In reply to: what kind of guitars do you have? I am working off of a squier strat...not the best guitar, but it's fulfilled what I needed it to do. it was my first guitar, and was my "beginner" guitar, so if I chipped the gloss or finish, I wouldn't care too much. Next guitar I'm getting is the KH-202, anybody have one? Yamaha RBX260f [ fretless ]Gibson Les Paul StandardFender ( USA ) StratFender (USA) TeleIbanez AEL20 [ Electric Acoustic ]I also have a few older ones I rarely use, my first guitars - Hyburn acoustic, Nova ? Strat copy. Oh, and we've done some recording so if anyone wants to listen to my bands pm me

Nice! How's the Gibson play? Zakk Wylde (walken, if you're looking for another awesome guitar player, zakk is the man) plays with one.
-
Zakk uses his signature, which, I believe has EMG 81 and EMG 85 pickups. Gibsons, to be honest, are rather heavy if you're playing a gig thats over an hour long. They play great [ one of the best that I've had the opportunity to play ] It compares to the high end Epiphones I must say but they can't truly touch it. Now, the Elites are great guitars. If you have a grand or so [ if your'e Canadian that is ] I would suggest the LP Standard, maybe mod the pickups .
