My husband has had a metallic taste in his mouth for three or four days now that will not go away. We have tried drinking water, of course bushing his teeth several times a day. Can anyone help on what this could be? He is a healthy 27 year who is not on any meds, exercises everyday. The only thing that goes with it is sometimes the taste make him sick to his stomach.

Blood often has a copperish taste, which is metallic. Is this the sort of metal taste, or is it like another sort of metallic taste? Because if it reminds him of the taste of copper(like a penny, for instance), it could be blood from somewhere, like ripley said maybe nasal blood of some sort?

I thought it was iron, from the hemoglobin in the blood (the substance that carries oxygen) that gave it that distinctive taste. I get that same sort of thing occasionally, but not very often. Any changes in diet, activity, or something else? I'm not an expert or anything, but that may cause it - that or a minor bleeding sore or something like that.

Dunno. maybe just a temp thang. But I advise you to just check with the Docs in case. It could be blood..but not for 4 days that long. It can be a filling..but they usually don't taste metallic.

There are certain foods that cause that phenomenon. Also in certain dyes. When I got dye put in my body for an intervenous pyelogram once, I tasted metal for days.

I'd guess its blood coming from somewhere thats goin in2 his mouth, I remember when I was younger, whenever I had a tooth that was comin out & it bled a bit I'd always get a weird taste (very similar to some iron medicine thing my mum gave me when I was younger) so it may be that.Has he started doing a lot more excercise recently? When I played football with my boss a few times I wasnt used 2 the intensity (it was basically sprintin 4 an hour indoors with no breaks at all) I got the same kind of taste then, although that stopped once I'd had a bit of a rest afterwards, so I doubt its related, just a thought tho.
