i think i have a serious problem. for the past 6 months, my nose has not stoped bleeding. but not like a regular nose bleed, but were the blood just seeps out slowly. and i have a very uncomfortable feeling in my nostrils. when i blow my nose, some pretty interesting things come out. my nose is always stuffed up. i blow it and it is ok sometimes for like ten minutes, then the blood clogs it up, and drys. i have gone to the doctor about this, and he said that it is normal, but that was only after it was bleeding for about 2 weeks. i am scared that something is really wrong with me. i read on another site that sometimes this can be caused by tumours in the nasal cavaties. does anyone know anything about this.thanxgj

yeah that happened to me a few months to years back..for me it was always the first signs i was getting sick again, so I usually ended in the hospital, but i have an interesting thing with my body and that might not apply to you. But, do you have: high blood pressure; Dry living conditions; drug issues; and underlying med. issues. If you don't, I'd see another doctor, definately Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor. Also, when you're trying to stop a bloody nose, don't do the tilt the head back and pinch the bridge technique...it's not as effective and lets the blood drain into your stomache, which is nasty. Instead keep the head tilted down to your shoes, you don't have to look at the floor but, just enough tilt to keep the blood goin out of your nose, not into your stomache. Second, usually when your nose doesn't stop after a few mins, there is a blood clot keeping the gash open...blow your nose as soon as you know the blood is not going to stop. Once you get the clot out the bleeding should stop almost instantaneously. If you can not get the clot out, pinch the nostrils together, not the bridge of your nose. P.S. ask your doctor about flonase, it's a topical steroid, and therefore it can help with the inflammation of your blood vessels, which is also one reason your nose might be having frequent bleeds.

Since your nose bleeds are not regular, it would be best just to get a second opinion. I doubt you'd be able to get the help you need from these boards, because I think a doctor, preferably ENT doctor would have to look inside your nose.
