you cant live healthy under 5% body fat. my bro is a personal trainer and he said he learned that the other day. when ray lewis(i love him but its an example) says he is 3.5% fat or whatever it is, thats a lie just like their weight and height.back to abs. you want low body fat and to work them out. when you workout you dont want to work the same muscle more then 1 every 5 days at the most. a muscle is sore cause it is broken down from wokring out, so you have to eat protein to build the muscle back and it takes some time. i follow this religously and it works and you get results. with my abs ill work them out 1-3 times a week just cause i do. you want to mix it up, read this article on getting abs written by a normal person and not a sales cat.http://www.intense-workout.com/ab_workouts.htmlthat site has a lot of great info. i hope this helped.

Six-Pack abs
-
I'm about 5.5% at most and if you saw me you'd see definitely see little fat on me. I'm not muscular nor big. I weigh in at 147lbs and stand at 5ft 9'. I have a very fast matabalism so if I did gain fat it'd be gone pretty much the next day or something - that's how fast it is.
-
But also with that, I've always been able to see my abs without working out. Only when doing sit-ups do they become more 'toned'.
-
Me?
-
I'm not a body builder. Plus, if you don't believe that is fine, I have no grudge against you, but I am definitely not lying. So, I guess that makes me unhealthy then.
-
Wish you could edit older posts. Oh well. You're right btw about me not having 5% body fat. As it would seem the frickin machine I used to calculate it at the gym isn't working properly. I just asked someone I know their's and they said they didn't know because the machine that does it has been malfunctioning over the past few months. So that being the case I am so obviously wrong. I do apologise and I'm really sorry once more for standing my ground for something that is so not right. Sorry
-
the electronic machines are rarely correct. if you go up to it and it checks you could have 10% then go do a few sets of an exercise come back and it could be 7% which is wrong.
i was the same way, ive had abs since i can remember and i never worked them out. its mainly body fat.
EDIT: it is possible to edit old posts

I am 16years old i am around 5'8 and weight like 148. I started dieting and running for at least 20 minutes a day sometimes more andi was wondering on that rate how long it would take to get my abs. I usually eat oatmeal with no sugar or nothing for breakfast with water to drink, come home after school usually some kind of soup with water and a fruit, a few hours later usually canned tuna with celery with water..then at nite an apple or orange
-
dood.. I eat a full bowl of oatmeal with a massive cup of water and usually an apple? and im usually full just from the oatmeal it fills u up for a long time.
-
lol im sorry but i don't see how im skipping meals? i eat 3-4 a day?
-
ya don
t skip meals ... but your diet is .. ugh ...not really healthy. You need more variation in food. And don
t think that with limiting food intake you`ll lose fat easyer. Limiting food intake slows down metabolism , which is a BAAAD thing -
for a healthy diet, try using the law of thirds, just like in photography. 1/3 of you plate should be vegitables, 1/3 carbs, and 1/3 protien. a lot of people get too much protien, and when it cannot be absorbed, it turns to a simple carb, and then into fat. if you follow this rule, and keep the meats to a minimum, you will loose weight. as for the abs, im a lacto-vegitarian, and i always have been one. my diet is extreemly good and i work out 5 times a week. i still dont have a 6-pack. i think its both genetic and also your dedication. my abs are toned, no blub or anything, but you dont see a defined 6 ridges. but, keep working on it, and if you have any more diet questions, i would be more than happy to help anyone. pm me.

Dude, forget about numbers. And yeah can't get six-pack abs just working the abs, you're whole body ratio fat/lean needs to come down. Got to change your life style; work out, do outside sports and change your diet. Make a long term goal with many intermediate goals. Dude, that is key, if you have many easy short term goals and you hit them, you’ll reach your long term goal. I can’t emphasize this enough, you need to map this out on paper and have small incremental goals and hit them; week one eat a more healthy breakfast and start working out, week two etc…..It’s all up to you.
-
close to it...I almost have one.Ummm.. yeah i ahve been doing about a hundred or so sit ups twice weekly for the last 3 years. GO Karate!
-
I almost had a 6 pack as I used to go to a gym and had a personal trainer. Then I get lazy and school work poured in so now I'm getting a big stomach.
-
lol..this is all just crazy! I'm 5'9", 128 lbs..and you can barely see my abs. I work them all the time. And before you say I have to do more cardio, I run cross country and distance in track...I get enough cardio, trust me! haha
-
Winger, you are way to skinny to get any muscle on you. Trust me I had a personal trainer. You gotta get some meat on before you get some muscle.
-
If you're 5'9", 128 lbs and male, then it sounds like you're starving yourself. You need more body mass before you have a prayer of building up your muscles. Hasn't your coach said anything?Long-distance runners have lean bodies, but you can go too far.
-
haha..no I'm fine y'all. I eat a sausage mcmuffin for breakfast, 2 hamburgers for lunch, and I have a large dinner. I never stop eating really.. I've put on 10 lbs in a just a year. All distance runners are pretty much my size if you get around to any high school meets
-
So you're on a hig-fat diet. You might want to give a bit more thought to your diet, if that's typical.
