1'm 35 and have battled add all my life. about 6 months ago i stumbled on to a website about mercury posoining from "silver" dental fillings(they're actually about 55% mercury, the main ingredient, they should be called mercury fillings). so my question is this how many of you add'ers out there have "quick"silver fillings in your mouths. i started out with at least 13 or so and am in the process of having them replaced with composites, i've only had about 25% done so far(it ain't cheap, but hopefully worth it). i haven't noticed any major changes yet but will keep you posted. so if you have any "silver" in your mouth please start surfing and reading, there's alot of info out there. and remember, according to the epa, mercury is the second most toxic element in the world, by the way number one is plutonium!!!

I know this is a really old post, but in case anyone else is wondering silver fillings are completely safe. There's very little if any traces of mercury in them, and none of which is anywhere near a significant amount to cause harm to one's body.

anonymous, you are right mercury is toxic and tests have shown they give off vapors in the mouth...you can get your blood/hair tested for heavy metals and if it shows up high after you get your fillings removed chelation might be an option for you...i'm not sure if i buy into the whole mercury causes ADD and autism thing, but i sure don't trust toxic metals in my mouth...
