I've been thinking about this for awhile. What really happens after death? I used to believe God when I was younger. After that I started believing in Wicca. But when I really thing about it. Reincarnation, heaven, hell...I just don't think that's right. I know this sounds bad and and not all happy and stuff but, I think we just die. That's it. No being reborn and no living with God in heaven or the devil in hell. I'm not really sure though. It just doesn't make sense to me. I would like to know what other people think on the subject though. Maybe something you say will help me to believe something else.

What happens after death?
-
Prepared to be amazed and entranced...As we live here on Earth the Universe is ever expanding and eventually reaches a point where it gets so big that it collapses in on itself and everything goes bang and explodes and expands again in the EXACT same way as did before so everything happens again and again for all eternity so no matter what you think about life or death, it really doesn't matter, just remember that you will be living your life till the end of time, so try to make it a good one.

I never used to believe in an afterlife, but since .. oh ok that was slightly freaky. I;ll tell you the story then what just happened ... My nan died a year ago, and she always told me she'd contact me if she could. I have a heavy box ful of her stuff on top of my wardrobe - its heavy for me to move so I know there's no way it moved by itself. I went in my room one day to find the box pushed right the way forward and stuff on the floor from in front of it. Ok that scared me a bit and noone else ever goes in my room. The next week I was sat in my chair and I felt a hand on my shoulder. Thinkin that one of my parents had come in without me noticing, I spun around to say "hi" and saw noone there.. but I know for a fact there was a hand on my shoulder. I could still feel the pressure. Now what was just freaky.. I was thinking about the box moving so I turned around to see the position of it so I could describe it - it had moved forwards again and all the stuff was on the floor. so that has totally scared me, but in answer the the question... Yes I now believe there is an afterlife. I know to you it might not be much proof, but to me...

I believe in the after life. I believe in God and Jesus Christ and that a person will either go to heaven or hell when they die. I truely believe that I'm going to heaven when I die, and although many people may say that there is no proof that there is a God, I still believe in him, and I always will.

I agree with Katie Lou. I believe in God and I know that I'm going to heaven. I dont think anyone here can give you the answers you are looking for. You have to do some soul searching in order to find your "answer"
-
Exactly, you need to look within yourself to find your answer what will happen to yourself after death. Do some soul searching and see what you come up with, you may be surprised.

I don't what happens after death but I'm not excluding anything, We might go to heaven, we might reincarnate whatever.. Its just that we might not smell, see, feel, taste or hear something but that doens't mean it does not exist. I mean 500 years ago people still thought the earth was flat until we had sateliets that Unabled us to see that it was in fact round. And what about electricity? Magnets? Or molecules and bacteria and viruses? The same thing, so maybe one day we'll figure out what really happens when we die. Is there something that lets go of our body when we die and 'lives' in a different form? Maybeeeee, but until then live ur life at its best. And don't keep yourself from anything, (unless of course you're hurting someone and that is including yourself...)
And another thing... A lot of people thinkl that when they die everything goes 'black' Well maybe it doens't because you dont have ur eyes to see that its black, You wonty know whats light or dark, because its your brains telling you somethings is black because u 'can't see it'... -
Not trying to be picky, but they knew the Earth was round long before they had satelites, it was when they kept sailing and ended up where they started that they figured it out. I think it was Magellan, although he died before the voyage was over. Got a spear in the eye or something...

I think we just die. Restart life again! I mean look. We die, go in the dirt/air/return to elements. We become nutrients for grass. Animals eat us. We turn into a cell of them...energy...part of them w/e. I think humans over think too much. We should spend more time on how to cure AIDS....or w/e
-
i believe in reincarnation
-
yeah alright but what its the same thing , I meant that like those people had to find out stuff before things become clear so can/will we in the future.
-
that si probably the best subject line i have ever seen in a forum post.Really though you go to leprechaun land. Their quite friendly there and you ahve a good time. Trust I've been.It was fun.Or you can go to any plac eyou want. Then you come backThen you learn to ramble on and on like I am doing here.
-
How come everyone who believes in heaven always thinks they're going there? The answer to your question is, no one knows. No one has actually died and come back. Some people whose hearts have stopped have been resuscitated, but they were never dead...or they wouldn't have been able to be resuscitated. Most people need to have answers to questions like the one posed in this thread. They're not satisfied with "I don't know". Religious faith solves the problem (fear of the unknown) for some folks.I see no reason to think anything happens after we die, beyond decomposition.

oh great, another Last on the boards.
-
No way, SteveA isn't half as bad as Last *laffin*
-
In reply to:oh great, another Last on the boards.Could you explain that? Should I say something like, "On great, another credulous brain washed person who suspends logic and reason when it feels good"?In the U.S., when religion is discusses, you tend to get an echo chamber effect. Everyone is amen-ing their favorite irrational beliefs. It seems like a good idea for someone to present an opposing point of view, so some one, somewhere, might have an opportunity to actually think. When I see religious practice, I see tons of hypocrisy. Do you?"If you believe what I believe, you get into heaven. Otherwise, you will be cast into a bit of hellfire, to be tormented for eternity." You see no problem with that Christian belief?
-
In reply to: "On great, another credulous brain washed person who suspends logic and reason when it feels good"? My point exactly. What do you have against people who choose to find something meaningful in this life? If I wanna believe that when I die, I'll live on forever in a place that's pure beauty, why do you care? As long as I don't harm anybody else with my beliefs, what's the big deal? If you say, "oh you've just been brain-washed"...I swear that phrase has been beaten into the ground...But at least I'll 'believe' that my life had a meaning, far greater than just this short span of time, we call life.

I agree with blackmanoncampus. There is nothing wrong with believing in an afterlife, I find peace in knowing that I'll spend eternity in a wonderful place after I pass form this world. No one says you have to beieve the same as I do, I didn't ask you to. You can believe what you want, why do you care if someone believes diffrent from you? You have the right choose what you believe in whether it be right or wrong in whoevers eyes.
-
People can believe what they want, but taken to an extreme, belief in afterlife becomes a death cult. Our current existence is then a short, trivial way station on the way to eternity. People stop caring about the world as it is and just look forward to their own death. But people can believe what they want, even if it's something they learn from their parents and their culture, but has no basis in reason. I believe the Cubs will win the World Series this year.

Did you realize that my "Oh, great..." was a tit-for-tat response to your "Oh, great..."?Just because you believe something that makes you feel good doesn't make it true. It just makes you feel good. The problem I have with irrational belief is that it's intellectually dishonest.People who don't believe what you believe are going to a place of eternal torment, right? So you think all the Jews and Moslems and Hindus and atheists and Buddhists and Unitarians are all going hell? Then why bother with them? Aren't they expendable? How can you believe things like that, consider yourself moral, and live with yourself? Some fundamentalist folks believe in the myth of creationism. It feels good. Then they drive real science out of the schools. Then we wind up with a lot of religious folks praising the Lord, but no one to fill technical jobs or run the economy or do scientific research. Then we have religious demogogues running everything.Maybe we should stop worrying about the environment alltogether. After all, armageddon is just around the corner.Irrational beliefs tend to lead to bad things.
