I just turned 15 and I have been masturbating for 3 years now, like 2 times a week on average and I was wondering how much has it effected my sperm count? and should I stop or am I ok? also when does masturbating really start to effect your sperm count?

Sperm Count

Masturbation has nothing to do with your sperm production. Your testes produce 10's of millions of sperm per day whether you mastubate or not.

I think what he may be wondering is when u masturbate alot then next time u masturbate its not as great n theres not as much semen comin out. But if u wait then u have a chance to produce more semen.....does that make sense?
-
Maybe. Then he needs to know the difference between sperm and semen.

Its like your blood...you loose some, but body will regenrate the loss. Wont be as much if you "go" many times a day.

Does sperm count affect a man's ability? I don't get why men pride in high sperm count. Don't men want less so it doesn't knock up a girl...?

I'm with you on that one, while sperm count is a good thing to know if you're wanting to conceive and having some trouble, it isn't necessarily anything I need to know on a regular basis and certainly doesn't have anything to do with making me a better man. And lets remember that no matter how many of those lil devils you have...it only takes one to get the job done! Even a small amount of ejaculate may contain enough to get someone pregnant.

True dat lance, couldnt have said it better myself

Actually, ejaculating 2 times per week is about the optimal frequency to ensure you have not only the best sperm count, but also the best sperm quality. So the frequency you are masturbating right now is perfect for the best sperm count. Here's the deal: your testicles produce sperm relatively constantly. A fully grown adult male produces about 1,000 sperm every second, 24 hours a day, everyday. No matter how often you masturbate, your testicles will produce the same amount of sperm. Now, you can increase your sperm count by simply not masturbating for a long time. The longer you go without ejaculating, the more sperm will build up, and the higher your sperm count will be when you do ejaculate. However, it does reach a point where there is so much excess sperm inside that hasn't been ejaculated, that your body will start to reabsorb and break down the excess sperm. It takes about 84 days for sperm to mature to be ready to be ejaculated, once they are produced by your testicles. Once they are mature and ready, they can live inside your body for about 2-3 weeks, then they die. What happens is if you don't ejaculate for more than a week or so, your total sperm count will continue to increase, but the percentage of healthy, live sperm goes down, while the percentage of dead sperm goes up. So from a fertility standpoint, you want a high sperm count and a high percentage of moving live sperm. Doctors have found that the ideal ejaculation frequency for the best mix of high sperm count and highest percentage of live sperm is about once every 3-4 days. If you ejaculate more than that, your sperm count will go down, and if you ejaculate less than that, your percentage of good live sperm will go down. Keep in mind, this is all temporary. There is no damage done at all if you don't ejaculate frequently (or at all), and no damage if you ejaculate very frequently (many times per day even). Just change your ejaculation frequency back to once every 3-4 days, and your sperm count and quality will return to optimum within a week. Hope this helps.
