So, anybody watching tonight?

Oscars 2008
-
Just had dinner and it was on.. I could care less about the Oscars.
-
I'm watching. Not bad. Couple cool suprises.Loved seeing Glen Hansford and Marketa Irglova....and I'll take 1 talented unknown face of 100 no-talent hack "stars".
-
No..now i;m going to bed
-
They're not unknown, they're just not American!
-
I usually just find out who wins awards by reading movie cases about 6 months later. They always love to advertise if it has an award winning anything in it.
-
I am but i'm actually getting quite bored by it.
-
All awards ceremonies suck.
-
Word. I only wanted to see Jennifer Hudson who looked lovely. And then when she was done so was I.Then my friend said Daniel Day Lewis was on. Turned and saw him being humble and sweet as usual. And then that was it. I did get a few sneak peeks at Johnny Depp. It should be illegal to look as gorgeous as he did. Other than that... nope. Quote:All awards ceremonies suck. Not the NAACP Image Awards hehehe lol

bob being arrested for being too sexy? that's believable
you? PFFFFFT!!
-
I usually enjoy the Oscars though....
-
Last years was ok. My favorite was the year Reese Witherspoon won best actress and Crash got best picture.
-
Didn't even know they were on. The dog and I spent the day laying on the couch watching Dirty Jobs .

I'm surprised at you. All the anti americanism and here you are asking about something as american as apple pie. There is shame involved when watching the oscars. Believe me, I know, I was at an Oscar party last night, and left there wiped out. I don't even know how I agreed to go, but I went with my GF, who was invited. Talk about fake! The epitimy of fake americanism. Why are you so interested in this topic? I sense a lil american in you.

I've recently been to the capital, alicious.

I don't hate America or anything, I'm just against shitty stuff that actually effects me, or will effect me, negatively, such as America's foreign policy.I only found out that the Oscars were on because I turned on the tv and there it was. I'm a massive movie buff, love them. I was a little disappointed with a few results, like I thought that Ellen Page should have won Best Actress. I thought she did that brilliantly, I loved the character, at least Diablo Cody won her Oscar.

I really do feel like throwing up. Movies have always been so fake to me. I'll watch a documentary over a movie, and I'll even watch Kung Fu Cinema before I watch a "regular" movie. I'd rather sit through the overdubs and low budget makeup of "Half a Loaf of Kung Fu."

Did you see any of the other performances? Oh, wait, neither did I.But I saw Juno and I've seen the others in other flicks. I would say, as cute as she is and as fun as Juno was, she couldn't hold a candle to the others. I'm glad Marion C. won. This year was definitely one of those rare years where the winners won on merit and not on politics or sympathy.I was thinking today about this comment you made earlier: Quote:They're not unknown, they're just not American! I think it's the first year that no American has won an acting award since like 1964. I think that says something about American actors, no? Hollyweird keeps cramming folks like Tom Hanks and George Clooney down our throats, trying to convince us they are incredibly talented, when the truth is they can't hold a candle to Daniel Day-Lewis and Ralph Feinnes, or Cate Blanchette.Maybe American actors are ruined by Hollywood.

I'm still glad that she got the nomination, not bad getting a nomination for Best Actress at the age of 20 (21 as of last Thursday).
