My wife had an infection, see went to the doctor and she said that she had herpes. We have been married for 10 yrs., but we have been together for 15 yrs.. I have never cheated on my wife but I don't know about her.The Dr. said it could take 20 yrs. or more for someone to see signs of herpes. We were both active before we got married. I just find it strange that if one of us had the virus that neither one of us has had any symtems for 15 yrs. I do not show any signs of it. What does anyone think about this. I don't want to acuse my wife of cheating but I just don't know. Thank you for any input on this.

How long does it take to become infected

I don't have alot to say on the subject except that I guess it's possible, but I would be very suspicious too. 15 yrs without any symptoms seems a bit out of the ordinary.

Check yourself. If you don't have it, but she does. She most probably had sex with someone else. Because just skin contact can transmit the herpes. For 15 years seen highly unlikely. 4 years seem more like it. But just test yourself.

Just so you all know, it is possible to have a dormant virus in your body or what is called subclinical (ie: no symptoms). When you are exposed to a person with herpes, your body either chooses to react to it or not. Some people actually have the virus living in their body and never get an active lesion. Also, herpes simplex I, the cold sore kind, can be transferred by oneself to the genitals by touch. One time here at our hospital, a patient who had never ever had herpes or any exposure (to her knowledge) gave the virus to her child during delivery via a monitor in the baby's scalp. So puuuuleeeze, do not question her fidelity over something like these crazy viruses....
