Have not had a normal bowel movement in 3 years. Been to several drs and had all tests run and they say nothing is wrong. I have to take laxatives and turn it to almost water to have a movement. Any sugestions?

My bowels do not work

Eat more fiber?

What do you mean by normal? What, exactly, is going wrong?
-
I do not know what is wrong. I can not have a BM with taking some kind of laxative. My stomach hurts all the time. Drs. say nothing is wrong. They have looked from both ends. To me, a normal BM is sitting down and taking a big dump. Have not done that in 3 years

It's probably one of those stds I was just talking about in your threesome posting. LMAO!

Having a bowel movement once to twice a day is normal, but people differ from the numbers all the time.

I had problems all my life with my bowels.I went 28 days one time and it almost killed me .I have tried all the laxative on the market,no help.Last year I went to my dads for thanksgiving and I was in the bathroom for hours my stomache hurt so bad.Well for some reason in my mind I stopped eating meat I have a bowel movement every morning.I feel so good I do not hurt at all.But from the diet change I have gas but beano takes care of that.Try changing your diet .Don't eat meat for one week and see how it goes.Keep me informed .

So are you saying nothing comes out if you try to go regularly. Is it like painful to try and go regularly? You could just need a stool softener so its easier to go. I know it helps pretty good. Was making these huge craps that were like stiff and hurt to come out but taking that stuff really helped.

Did any of those doctors perform a colonoscopy? If not, then get one pronto, preferably by a good gastroenterologist. A stricture, polyp, tumor, or some other thing may be blocking your colon. If the colon were to block up completely, you would have a critical emergency on your hands.

I hear that if you use laxatives too much, your body eventually won't be able to make a BM without them.

That is true. You really need to check with your doctor if you need to take laxatives for an extended period ("extended period" means longer than what's recommended on the label). Some people with serious problems have no choce. But if there's any possibility you have a serious problem, you'd better be under a doctor's care (preferably a gastroenteroligist).
