OMG and they let her go to the dairy isle in the grocery store alone to get milk??? thats more dangerous! omg yeah im sitting at the table in cool beans some guy comes up and says " heyy im just gonna kidnap you and all the people and waiters all around this little cafe wont notice your screaming so its gonna be easy" or yeah of course my parents will say "Hey katie u wan't some pot?" and shes gonna say "sure! after all the d.a.r.e classes i took and all the warnings my parents gave me i think it sounds great!" yup, my parents are real potheads..its soo f***ing annoying! she can never do anything and it drives me nuts! she got so pissed off at them

Over protective parentss..
-
sounds like my parents when I was like 9.
-
shes 13!
-
My parents never acted THAT protective. my parents didnt fear if i went to the mall with a friend. Maybe your friend should sit down and have a talk with her parents. She should let them know that she is not a two year old anymore and should be able to be given responsibility. If she just sits back and bitches and moans that her parents are so strict then nothing will get accomplished.
-
Ah, 13 er 9... no biggie. It takes time to gain your parents respect. It has taken me about 5 years of no screw ups at all to get the respect I have now. When I screw up once, it's back to the drawing board... It's just the way life is for some people.
First step is to show your parents that you're responsible. It may be a smart idea for her to sit her parents down and explain the way she feels about their decisions, and the ability to do that really shows how far you've developed into someone that's not the little baby anymore.

heheh, we were typing about the same message at the same time.

No offence but it i had a 13 year old i don't think i'd want her mingling with druggies. You can see her parents point of view, they probably don't really know your parents and since they don't they only know stuff like there potheads 'n' stuff.
-
i think they're being stupid, they should allow her to do what normal 13 year olds do,and foster an honest relationship with her.
the last thing they want is her sneaking behind their backs and taking drugs and getting kidnapped just to spite them.
she seriously could become rebelious,i know i would, ggrrrrr!
my parents let me do things that were withn reason, thats fair enough, and how it should be. -
yeah, like my parents. Things wear off as you get older.
-
Honey, I'm 21 and my parents still treat me like I'm eight years old. I wanted to go out with my best friend on her birthday a few weeks ago and my parents told me no I couldn't go because there would be drinking involved. Even though they knew that if I thought the DESIGNATED DRIVER I wouldn't be drinking at all. So yeah, I feel ya pain hun.
-
I know how that is. My dad wont let me or my step sister out the house after the sun goes down cuz we're really pretty, according to him and other ppl. And even my b/f is pissed, and he lives right behind me! And yet my dad or his wife, doesnt want me or Erin around guys (we do it anyways) and they'd kill us if they found out we hooked eachother up with our crushes this month... and mines got a kid and smokes pot and drinks... so my dad would kill Him and ME, cuz he thinks im too pretty and smart to be around them types of ppl.. he'd rather me be gay... so i know how it is... IT SUX MAJOR ASS! ~*Casey*~

Up until i was 12 i wasn't allowed to go to the movies with friends unless on of there parents were going. I remember i wanted to see WIld Wild West when right before my mom was turning 13 and she called the movie thearter to make sure 12 yr olds could get into PG13 movies and told them 3 of us would be there, like the thearter staff really cares. It really was the most ridiculus thing ever. There not as bad with that kind of over protective shit now tho. Now that i have my license tho i have to call as soon as i get somewhere and everytime i get back in my car and go somewhere else. Of course i dont and just say i was at one place the whole time, but its not like i'm really going somewhere else. She would expect me to call if i decided to drive to burger king and back to the same place i just was. To me that is stupid. They always have a thing where i have to be home at 11 or 11:30 while i can on my license drive till 12. Its not they want to sleep or anything they just think earlier is better and only bad things happen late. They have however let me come home at midnight a few times and at 11:40 everytime they call making sure i left the place and it really annoys me cuz then i have to pick up my cell phone while driving which has caused me more problems than if they would just shut the hell up. Then they yell at me for talking why i drive when the only time i ever do is with them because they flip out if i dont pick up. They are insane.

My parents never realyl cared what i did to a certain degree. Now they really dont care. Heh, i get away with murder. They know i smoke and drink, hell ill even share pot stories with my dad and talk about different types of beers... It's awesome... Now one of you is going to be a jackass and say "oh that will mess you up later in life". Really, dont waste your breath. Ive heard it all before...
-
well my grandparents live with me, and when i was grade 8 (im a guy) they still had to come and pick me up from school which is like 10 min walk away from my house in a nice neighborhood, it was so embarassing!
-
